What role will this character play as the season develops?

Well, I thought the looked a bit like Ray Henry and was hoping that something would develop between him in Nicki, thereby leading her away from Bill. Unfortunately, I think that they are going to take it a different way and have him be interested in Caray Lynn. boo hiss!

SouthernSong, me too - I was hoping the teacher would become interested in Niki & she would end up with him. I was hoping this season would end with Bill & Barb married just to each other with Margene & Niki happy without Bill. It's so not going to happen - it looks like Barb is going to end up with the short end of the stick - again! I think Bill has put Barb through enough & now .... see Spoiler Thread.

Oh I saw. It made my blood boil! You and I are on the same page here. I really felt for Nicki back when she was doing the storyline with Ray Henry. She reminded me of a person who had always been wanted for what she could do for them and not for who she was. That wasn't the case with Ray. I loved what they did with her character. Then, all of the sudden she is in love with Bill and not wanting to share him. We didn't see anything building to that and I personally can't stand it.

When they let the Ray Henry story die, it killed Nicki's chance and desire for freedom. She would be in a better place to advocate for her daughter if she was on her own. Also Ray is so cute! And he bought her a sweet first date gift, not an electric razor or a gun. But the teacher... He is getting air time for some reason. Is there any chance he is a lost boy?

Southernsong, I can't stand it either. LA Time Critic Mary McNamara writes "Barb, who has never been at peace with polygamy much less being the public face of it, is realizing that there are certain things even love cannot accommodate; Margene loses her business and she fears her identity; while Nikki is faced with the most dangerous predicament of all -- she's gotten what she wanted."
Nikki I guess always wanted to be Bill's - Nikki has to see Barb & Margene are floundering & it's very reasonable that one if not both will leave. Then Nikki will not have to share Bill any longer.
I hate that Barb is going to agree to (spoiler)! There is no reason for this to be done! I think Bill has a lot of faults but I do think Bill is smart & is able to figure out how to get what he wants. I think Bill could figure out a solution to this problem without involving the spoiler.
So, I hate it! I think Nikki would have been better off with Ray because it would probably be a better environment for CL & Nikki's boys - plus with Ray I think Nikki would have a better chance of experiencing true love.
I hate it also because despite everything I've always believes Bill loves Barb - but now I don't know if my belief was true because I don't think he would ask her to do this thing for CL knowing the true nature of Nikki along with her saying she doesn't want to share Bill.
I don't trust Nikki & Bill is giving her too much control. Barb isn't going to have anything! I hope Barb makes Bill sell Home Plus & give her all the money & Barb finds peace, love & true joy - & Barb's heart is healed from all of Bill's destruction.

I am with you guys. On everything. The teacher totally looks like Ray & I also liked Nikki/Ray & was shocked when all of a sudden she loved Bill. I am so mad at (spoiler). arg. I hope Barb ends up with Tommy at the end so at least she's happy.

He is, but will he ever get found out? I can't imagine Nicki telling anyone. She sees it as a reflection on her (mostly because she is completely self-absorbed). Margene won't tell anyone because of how it will look to the public and just reinforce stigmas about her family. Ben won't tell for the same reason. Cara Lynn is going to keep her mouth shut because she doesn't want him going to jail.
And, as bad as it sounds, he does seem to genuinely care about her. And she does seem much more mature than 15 - and certainly more mature than Margene was in season one and she was only supposed to have been 19 at the time.

I have to admit, she is pretty mature for her age. On the other hand her actions are immature because she is putting her family at risk for more ridicule. Knowing that they are already under scrutiny, she was selfish and stupid for doing this.

Now the Mr. Ivy is the statutory rapist, Nicki is going to get her out of there. Nicki was fortunate to have followed her outside & then Margene being there; thus putting CL between the 2 of them. I liked how Margene had CL tell Nicki rather than Margene telling it all. CL is busted. I agree that the teacher didn't see CL as she really is etc. Hmm, I suppose sometimes Love is Blind.

I agree aswell. If he was a creep that was attracted to little freshman girls in high school, I'm sure he could have acted on that with someone else. But it's cute that he was a 37 year old who lost his virginity to someone he loved. To me that screams "I'm not a perve, i'm just in love." You get me? ;D And i think that is so special. Thirty-seven for god sakes! haha

I agree with nychic. Somehow the Greg and Cara Lynn relationship has never seemed creepy or had any predator/victim vibe to it. Perhaps that's because Greg seems like a sheltered innocent and CL has seen a lot of exploitation in relationships in her short lifetime. In our contemporary culture a thirty-something man with a teenage girl is automatically assumed to be wrong. In many, if not most, cultures, that age difference is considered highly desirable and the norm. The man is old enough and established enough to support a wife and child, the woman is young enough to have several children. I hope Greg and Cara Lynn end up together.
BTW, Texas changed the age of legal marriage with parental consent from 16 to 18 because of the influx of polygamists. Cara Lynn says she wants Nikki to give her permission to marry at 16. I wonder if you can marry at 16 with parental consent in Utah?

I think their relationship will be short lived, Nickie will come up with a brilliant plan to make sure it is. I'm assured that she won't press any charges because this would cause unwanted attention to herself & family, plus she's now a witness to a crime, compliments of Alby!
I can understand Nickie not being happy about this loving relationship. The 22 year age gap between these two is huge, imo. It does make for an interesting story line, especially when juxtaposed to Margene/Bill scenario.
