What do you think? Did he only put his wife to sleep?

What do you think? Did he only put his wife to sleep? I took it to mean that they both died but it was left where you could decide.

There were 3 empty vials on the bedside table, so I infer that there was enough for them both.

I think they died together - it seemed his breath slowed in the last few seconds, or perhaps that was my imagination. All his other wives left him, what would he have if he stayed?

I guess it was asking too much for the writers to clear that one up. Not impressed.

BTW, does anyone remember Grace Zabriskie playing George Costanza's would-be mother-in-law on Seinfeld?

I thought he did them both in. Lois just a few moments before himself. I liked hearing the stories he was telling Lois. He really did love her.

I agree - I think both Lois & Frank died & this is why they showed the bottles of morphine (or whatever drug used). That was such a tear jerker of a scene - Frank & Lois in bed; Lois being held by Frank with her head on his chest & Frank "giving" Lois her memories as he told the story of their early life together.
When Lois asked Frank to end her life after she had so many bad days - Lois told him that it would be his time too - I think Lois said something as though "no one will be around to wipe your (Frank's) butt." I took it as though Frank & Lois agreed that they would leave this Earth together & enter into Eternity together.

That scene was soooo touching! I hated to see Lois go but I at least Frank went with her! I hated him for sooo many seasons and then he turns nice for the last season! How ironic!

Yes, Betheasz, I think that sounds right. There is something sweet there, and an expression of real love.

It sounded like Lois was the first wife, but we know she wasn't because Frank promised her she could be first and legal wife after Roberta died. Huh? It did seem as though Frank treated Lois horribly when he thought she was indestructible, but then in the end, when he realized his bad judgments had brought her memory/life loss, he remembered just how much he loved her..... he really did try very hard to make her end days as joyful as possible...I choose to believe Frank gave the drug to Lois first, waited a good while to give it to himself so that she could pass away being held in his arms and spoken to about her life's good memories, then after Lois passed, Frank could follow her. That is what I choose to believe.....

Frank & Lois sure could bicker! Where you find such intense bickering, arguing, & hostility between two people typically you can also find deep love, respect, & admiration too.
I enjoyed how we were able to see Frank & Lois in varying degrees of emotions towards each other. I think that Lois felt safe & deeply loved as she laid next to Frank with her head on his chest taking her last breaths. I think Lois was at peace living this earth & it was the sound of Frank's voice, the warmth of Frank's body, and Frank's embrace that allowed Lois to leave the earth peacefully.
