Do you think if there was some kind of letter writing campaign maybe the producers would pull it together for another few seasons? Even if they had to go somewhere like say, AMC.

No, because from what I have read, it was not that HBO pulled the plug but that the writers and creators felt that they had told the story that they wanted to tell. So I don't think that the powers that be would have any interest in continuing. The only thing I could possibly see would be a prequel because there is still some interest in how this family came to be.

Do you think it's possible that the writers saying "We have told the story we wanted to tell" (and now we are done) is possibly a cop out? I was looking at viewer numbers on some site and BL had one of the lowest numbers of viewers of all the HBO series. Maybe it's not that the story is over....but the money is gone?
I think we all have to admit that BL is not for everyone. We have open minds here and embrace it....but not all people want to watch polygamists...for various reasons.

You have to also remember that out of all the TV stations in other countries that bought big love from HBO when it was the first season; only a couple of them are still showing it now. Most countries only showed the first; and maybe the second season. Most HBO shows are highly successful in drumming up revenue from overseas and I'm sure that HBO probably get a lot, if not most of their income from that

@ Albertaleon: Regarding your recent post. I agree that someone will die and I think it will be Frank because (Bruce Dern) who plays him is not mentioned in the casting list for the final episode. Also, I wish that Barb and Bill could be together at the end and Margene and Nikki be able to find happiness outside of that marriage. Who knows, maybe this will happen. Can't wait to find out.

When you have a show that films over years, but only has weeks pass between seasons, a writers strike that delays production almost a full year can be disastrous. Look at how much the kids grew up in what was supposed to only be two years. Plus, it is easy to lose interest when it takes so long between seasons. Many shows have two seasons a year. Big love has 10 episodes a year.
