Whyis Bill so adament on publicy exposing his lifestyle when & if he wins the election? Margene already expressed her feelings to him about it. The wives expressed their fears in their meeting. Does he think that he is so powerful that everyone in the whole state is going to change their views on polygamy? It is illegal!!! Also, why buy that big house - the election is not over yet; he hasn't won anything. What makes him think that everyone wants to live together like that? (smaller quarters for each part of the family). They can't even get along in separate homes. Bill is a moron! He really believes he is going to change the world's view on polygamy, and keep the senate job, and everyone is going to live happily ever after. HE IS NUTS! As far as the whole living under one roof... That is clearly not something the wives are interested in. He just wants to be Roman only with more money and power.

Not that I think Bill ever really takes into consideration what his wives want or need but seriously who else is that going to benefit besides Bill? I'm sure they certainly don't want to give up their little bit of independence and privacy they have with their own houses to all live under one house again. In fact wasn't there little before season shorts available on demand (I think between season one and two) where they showed 3 or 4 minute clips of the family before season one takes place and the last one had Margie pregnant with her second son (Lester? Those kids are hardly ever mentioned I can't remember which is which), they were all living in the main house (or only house at that point) and Barb made it very clear they wanted their own houses I believe. So now they're going back to that? Granted it's a bigger house but still if Barb and Nicki don't like hearing Margene from across the lawn I can only imagine how grating it is when she's just across the hall.

Hi, I'm new here, and am still catching up on the first 2 seasons. I seem to remember something about Lois referring to living in the Big House at JC. I know Bill's grandfather was once Prophet. Was that Lois' father, or Franks? I also don't understand why Roman was poisoning Frank in Season 1 if Frank wasn't in line to be Prophet, and seemed to be quite happy with being Roman's "underling". What has happened to all of Franks other wives, and how did Roman come into power anyway, and how long was he Prophet? I'm a bit confused.

Lois's father was the prophet and there is suspicion, but no proof, that Roman killed him to become prophet. Frank's real poisoner will become clear towards the end of the season. It seems like Roman, but it isn't. Frank is either blind to Roman's evil doings, or just so evil himself he doesn't care. For some reason they are buds...Not sure why. But then again, it wasn't Frank's father who was prophet before Roman, it was Lois's. I hope this helps.

Thanks for catching me up, I'm still wondering where all Frank's other wives are. I remember when his 1st wife died and Lois showed up with the cornbread, there were at least 3 other wives sitting with him, and I don't think he had already added Jodean. I know the one that smacked him upside the head with the shovel left for Mexico, but I don't know why. Oh, and while I'm writing this, I am also wondering about Wanda and how many people she's poisoned. When she fed Alby the antifreeze (which although it was spontaneous who keeps antifreeze in the kitchen?) Joey said (or was it Lois?) "You can't just go poisoning everyone you don't like" could it be she poisoned Frank? I wouldn't be suprised if he made a pass at her.....just a thought. Boy I'm glad I found this site! I just hope since there are so many defectors from the HBO site (which i agree is hard to understand) they don't take that as the fan base disappearing.

Yes Wanda is the one who was poisoning Frank all along... But what comes out even later is that Lois has been encouraging her to do it! LOL!
Yes Wanda is the one who was poisoning Frank all along... But what comes out even later is that Lois has been encouraging her to do it! LOL!
Well, that doesn't suprise me! On one hand, it seems like Lois views Wanda as "addled" and easy to manipulate, and on the other hand, I think she has a genuine affection for the girl. In the episode of Waynes' birthday party, Lois was driving home and Joey and Wanda were in the back seat snuggling, and Lois looked in the rear view mirror and smiled. I got the feeling then, that Wanda was Lois' favorite daughter in law. Although, wasn't that the first time Lois and Margene even met? How long was Bill out of his family's life? OOh! and do you think that Bill had to resort to "male prostitution" when he was first banished? I got that vibe a couple times when he talked about "morally degrading" things he had to do to survive.

Yep I totally think that Bill was a male prostitute. Mags I just tell myself they live in a parallel universe version of the US thats a lot smaller; and the states are not in the same place as usual; thats how I suspend disbelief about a lot of things haha...

I just pretend the Wild West is the same size as New England, and then it all makes complete and total sense.

How do they seem to get back and forth to Mexico so quickly. Because Big Love is in a parallel universe, where the laws of time and space don't count. It's always summer in Utah, baby Joey never grows any older, and you can drive hundreds of miles to work every day, and overnight to Mexico. Oh, and when you die, you'll get your own planet.

How do they seem to get back and forth to Mexico so quickly. I didnt really see it as quickly. When the ep began Bill and Joey were already in mexico. So maybe it's just me, but I dont understand where the time reference ever came into play one way or another??

So maybe it's just me, but I dont understand where the time reference ever came into play one way or another?? Bill and Joey went by plane and rented a car, I think. But Frank, Lois and Jodean drove down to the border, and there was some talk about whether they should stop to sleep or just drive straight through. So they drove down in about a day.
