I am so stupid. i thought he meant "tea time" not "tee time" I couldn't figure out why they were drinking tea and that there is a certain time to drink tea. Duh. Maybe I shouldn't have admitted that on a public board??? Ok, I know nothing about golf so that gives me an excuse, right?

Ah, marigoldmama....but there IS such a thing as "tea time," though yes, he did mean "tee time." When you want to play golf, they tell you what time you can start, so you don't have to hang around waiting while everyone else ahead of you tees off. You can go to the clubhouse and have ... oh a beer maybe, or a nice cup of tea! With little cucumber sandwiches, or biscuits with clotted cream! Edit -- P.S. D'uh on me! Of course you know what "tea time" means, otherwise you wouldn't have confused it with "tee time." And what do you know...THIS is where I go to change font colors and find smilies!!!

It's ok to admit it. lol I only know because I worked at a golf course during high school. I waited tables in the dinning room after they had teed off and sometimes the were peeved off by the time they got to me. lol

I don't think Marilyn knows about the polygamy thing at first. I think she mistakes it for Bill having an affair with Margene...that's how it looked in the previews, though I could be wrong.

Everyone in this thread figuring out the Marilyn / Paily / Reed storyline deserve gold stars! I am still having a hard time understanding because didn't Marilyn say that she represented other casinos? Wouldn't Jerry check out Marilyn's background? Maybe just even google her name and if he found "Marilyn soandso extorts third casino." I am assuming that the Christian Right does not believe in building casinos or having them exist. Bill's casino does not seem too large to me it is not like Vegas. I don't understand why they would target Bill's casino with a ice cream bar in the middle of it. I would think that the Christian Right being depicted in Big Love would think such a family casino should be a model for all casinos. I would not want to take my child to a casino where females were barely dressed and they were just walking around even if there is a roller coaster in the building. Bill's employees dress respectfully. I do not understand Pailey's involvment at all. I do kind of feel as though Pailey and perhaps Marilyn knew about the polygamy when they went to the casino. I felt something between between Pailey and Margene when Pailey asked Maregene if he could help her. And, I don't mean an attraction.
Again, everyone breaking this story line down and figuring it out deserves a gold star!

It is a hard story line and it kinda annoys me. ;D I hope at the end it all clears up a bit.

The wiki lobby scandal link made the whole plot clear to me.
The cause (Indian/Casino and/or Legalized Polygamy) needs legislation which uses lobbyist to influence politicians.
They both extort mega millions from the cause and then divvy it out to all the players, some of whom they help to create in order to facilitate the scam. Note also that they sometimes even lobby (behind the scene) against the very people that pay them to lobby for them, playing both ends to the middle (the scamers) The only true objective was to get a payoff.
Following the real life news story line, they went from a successful scam on the native americans (althought that is what finally caught up with them) to their next target which was religuous groups.
Legalizing polygamy would appear to be perfect next target. But they would need a politician to either be in it with them or have some blackmail potential.
This is where these writers would want to go; legalizing alternate lifestyle. This makes Bill's entry into politics thread back into the general BL story line.

I am still having a hard time understanding because didn't Marilyn say that she represented other casinos? Wouldn't Jerry check out Marilyn's background? Maybe just even google her name and if he found "Marilyn soandso extorts third casino." Once a lobbyist is "busted" for something like extortion - they dont exactly work as lobbyist anymore lol That's not to say she hasn't done it before. Just that she hasn't been caught. So not really something they would be able to google about her. What the chrisitian right beleives has little to fo with what's going on here - it's about creating a serious threat for the casino so that they feel they need someone fighting for them / protecting them legally - thus densham gets her foot in the door. it's a set up. Paley is in cahoots with Densham and Reed. It's all money motivated. he agrees to endorse bill b/c marilyn clues him in to her plans (after she find out about bills involvement with the casino) Marilyn getting paley to endorse bill gave her an in. (Bill owed her one, thus an intro to his casino partners) My guess is that (like wurks said) the next phase they have in mind has to do with the UEB... worth what $200 million? Bill is the trustee as is, if elected and needs help getting some "poly" stuff going then Paley would be a man who could do that (not bill as s state senator) .... not that he actually WILL do that, but it's another way to extort money / favor from bill. it's all a money motivated scam... one hand washing the other, etc. you know - kinda like real life politics. lol

HELP...age-related brain lapse here...who is Reed again, please??? Thanking you in advance, I remain yours truly -- no wait, I'm not Hollis Greene. But yes, living as close to the nation's capitol as I do, this lobby-related mumbo jumbo is all par for the course!

I didn't really know what his name was until the very end of the episode either. Don't feel bad.

I actually think the writers kinda dropped the ball on this storyline - just in the fact that not enough time / explanation has been given to it. I mean you shouldnt have to "research" a show to understand wtf is goin on , yk?
It could have been good if more detail, screen time, explantion happened - but then again that would have taken away fromsomethign else. So just another example of how their "cramming" it all into 9 eps is not so effective IMO.

Maybe I'm expecting too much...
