I hate to agree but I do. The Senate run story line is not quite credible and really a stretch for the rest of Bill's character on top of it! There is still time to rescue from the shark but they better hurry!

I *think* that wurks was referring to the "marilyn / paily/ reed all in bed together" thread. (on ep 41 board) www.biglovecompound.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ep41&action=display&thread=224The writers had said before that Marilyn's character had been pulled right from the headlines. But in truth is seems the whole storyline surrounding her has been. there are links to the real life drama that will add some serious explanation (it did for me anyway) to what the hell is going on with that whole mess. I dont think the story is unbeleiveable - i mean it did go down in real life. BUT I do think the writers have sort of dropped th ball on this one by not giving it enough time on the show , or enough explanation - I for one wa scompletely confused before reading the above thread and finding the "real" story. You shouldnt have to research a show for it to make sense though lol also, dont forget - Bill is running for "state" senate , not "US" senate & not exactly a powerful / high profile position. This was a tid bit that passed me up as well untill someone here made a point of it.

The last two episodes have caused my head to spin. They're telling SO many stories at once that keeping up has been tough. The whole Mexico debacle sunk the show to a new low from which I hope it can recover. Anna's re-introduction proved futile; Bill's run for Congress absurd; Barbara's running of the casino implausible; Margene's business silly. I fear the show has lost its identity and purpose.
IMO, the season was too short, too many stories were told, the stories were too soapy, and the complexity of polygamy was sacrificed for ...... well, what were they trying to do?
I hope the final episode pulls the show together and gives it a direction for next season, or I'm done .... sad, but true.

I am also new to this board...I am posting because I am so frustrated my favorite show is losing it's appeal for me. I agree, the story lines are getting away from what I loved in the first place...the family and how they live hiding in suburbia. I want more "normal", less politics. I am very disturbed that Bill could treat his best friend like he did.
I just don't get how winning a state senate election can make it ok to out the family...isn't it still against the law? Just because you are a senator does not mean it is ok for you to break a law.
I am also very angry that HBO has made us wait so long between seasons and then give us this season! After this season, if things don't get explained in the finale I just might not be around for next season.

Rhinestone...my husband said the same thing after watching the show the other night. He started watching the show with me the first season. I lost him a few shows in and he never really came back. For some reason he has stopped and watched two full episodes with me this season and a small bit of a third. He told me the other night it has turned into a daytime soap! Not that it has been totally realistic over the last seasons, but this season has things that are far out there.
I still love this show and I am not ready for it to end. If they don't change things up next season though I feel a lot of people might leave. I know I probably will too.

though I still lookk forward to watching it every sunday then discussing here on these boards -- I have to admit -having Bill run for senate is just to much and don't say it is only state senate because there is still a vetting process -- too many people already know he is a polygamist & I don't know if you've noticed , but Bill has no friends- only enemies-- the only friend he had was doan and loook what he did to him-- if he is elected then it suspends all belief and I will stop watching
