I seriously suspect that one, if not both these ladies are going to leave Bill this season...This is why...
Nikki for starters...Realizes what true love feels like now. She knows she doesn't have that with Bill. She also realizes polygamy is not normal now that her father is dead and he truly proved himself to be a false prophet. I think her chances of leaving the marriage are very high.
Margie is really the most scared out of all 3 about this senate thing and she has more to lose than just her pretty face being on the news. She has a business to run that makes a ton of money and she doesn't need Bill to support her or the kids anymore. Also, her question to Nikki about being in love with Bill almost seemed more like she was asking herself than Nikki, the way it just dawned on her that way.

maybe that's how the season will end, with one or both of them leaving?

Honestly, I think it is going to end with ALL of them leaving for one reason or another. I think it is apparent that Nikki is just now learning who she is and what she wants in life. The past 3 episodes have really shown this. First she admitted that she didn't love Bill and has never married for love, then she admitted that she loved Ray, she was crying uncontrollably when Sara got married (in my opinion, this is because she was seeing someone truly marry out of love), and was talking about how she doesn't want Cara Lynn to grow up like her, but to have choices. She wants choices and her choice is Ray - not Bill.
Margene is also growing and learning who she is. She was just a young kid when she married Bill. Now she is a woman with a career, goals, and aspirations. Bill doesn't really seem to believe in her and no one else in the family (save Ben) seems to have time for her and her business. I see her going off at the end of the season to be her own woman.
Barb never really wanted to live the principle, but she did out of love for Bill. With the Mountain Meadows letter, she started to believe that her lifestyle was right and what had been intended for her church all along. That is why she was actually willing to be excommunicated. Bill knows that the letter was a fake, but he never told Barb (or anyone else who might let her know). I think that she will find out that it was a fake and leave the principle to return to her family and church. This will also help her relationship with Sara.

Neither, I don't think. Although Margene's a really annoying character IMHO, I don't really see her leaving the family or the show. She's Bill's favorite, she won't leave. Besides, there's too much to mine in terms of storyline as she gets more successful and wants more control financially ("I think we should talk about lawyers, and money managers, and accountants" as she said last week).
And Nikki leaving would just be sad. She's the most complex and compelling character on the show, and Sevigny is the one of the strongest actors in the cast. She's one of the most interesting characters ever in any TV series, IMHO. I think with Ray gone, Nikki wants to make it work with Bill, but she wants it more on her own terms this time, which is why she got upset about the filmy negligee.

I think Margie will leave. Followed by Barb, if a second leaves. Nicki will be left holding Bill up. I think that will be what saves their marriage. I think next season will be all about getting the wives back.
Margie is getting too big for this Big Love family. She is taking a more leading lady role by being the top bread winner at the wives' table. Bill is going to ask her to help out monetarily with his campaign or bills(he's making less due to the economy) and she's going to get mad and leave for a while.

wow, some pretty good theories going in this thread. In truth I could see any one of them coming to fruition.
I thought it was interesting also when Nicki was explaingin to bill that she wants Cara Lynn to have choices and not to end up with the life she did. Bill's " you have a good life nicki" (or somethign similiar to that) showed just how out of tune he is with her. I also foudn itinteresting that she just kind of went with it... rather than stating the way she really feels.

Nikki only leaves if Bill refuses to take the place of the prophet and if he does that I see Barb out the door.
I thought Margie might leave last season when Anna left. Now I think she is there for the long haul.

Nikki is definitely struggling...She has a good life compared to other people perhaps...But she has had a really rough life.
I think she doesn't feel she has anywhere else to go, so sticking with Bill right now is her only option.

I think you may be right about that rissmeek. Whens he went to see ray I defintely felt she was begging for him to give her some signa or sign that all was not lost between them.

I agree if Ray would have taken Nikki back in open arms when she went to his place as he was moving...She, Wayne, Raymond & Caralyn would have been OUTTA THERE!

I dont think any of them will leave this season. I think when the show ends next season, Bill will be the phophet, and he and Nikki will return to the compound. Barb and Margene will be gone. Margene because she has grown and can support herself, Barb back to her family and the church because all along Barb never wanted that lifestyle she only did it because she loved Bill too much. This was all Bills dream never Barbs.
