Barb got her church and her priesthood. Margene got her mission trips. Bennie got his girl. Sarah got reconciled with her mother and at peace with her feelings about her father. Nikki learned that she doesn't have the milk of human kindness.
I think Nikki drew the short straw. Nikki lost her mother, her brother, and her husband. All she has left is being the housewife and mother for her kids and Margene's. No career, no education, no plans for broadening her horizons. No opportunity to make up for her lost childhood or adolescence. Yes, she has the family together and the love of her sister wives, but the other two got that plus something for themselves. I feel sorry for Nikki.

I have always felt bad for Nikki. I will say, however, that I cannot think of any situation in which Nikki would be happy. She drew the short end of the stick throughout her entire life. One plus is that Cara Lynn seems to be 'normal' when we saw her in the last scene. If there is anyone she truly is capable of loving, it is her daughter. Another plus is that she didn't end up alone as she was fearing (at least not in the short term).

I second that there is nothing that would make Nicki happy. She is just that type of person.
But she DID get legally married. She did get Bill to divorce Barb, she did get to be first wife and she is legally Bill's widow. so yeah.

I could sort of see Barb and Nikki growing into a fundamentalist mormon version of the spinster sisters on the waltons that made the recipe. Nikki would be like the Baldwin sister who always used to reminisce about Ashley Longworth, except it would be about Bill, who would become saintlier as the years went buy. Barb would have to try to cut her off in conversations, as she waxed sentimental about dear dear Bill. Nikki would be like Queen Victoria was about Prince Albert (she wore black until the day she died). She would still be cantakerous but as she aged it would be more tolerable. It also seems that Nikki is a great cook so if she ever went on a mission journey, the kids and the rest of the family would be excited about whatever new dishes she had learned to make.
I imagine her not doing very many trips though because she would inevitably offend some of the natives they would be sent to help.

Nickie told Barb, "I'm spiteful, I'm jealous, & mean". She also told Barb that she's lonely. Barb ask her to sit down on the bed, where Barb gave her a blessing.
Nickie also told the sw's, while Barb is worried about getting the PH, & Margene is going on a mission ship, she's going down with the captain on a sinking ship.
I think Nicki realized that her loneliness was real in a physical sense, especially since Barb & Marge had plans to devote their time to other things. In a way it's like Nicki got what she wanted, being legal wife. However, it came with a hefty price.

Nikki keeps her daughter, that alone is priceless. I sense she starts rebuilding her humanity through her.

Did Barb give Nicki a blessing or was it just a hug? If it was a blessing and Nicki allowed it, I need to go back and watch that again....

Did Barb give Nicki a blessing or was it just a hug? If it was a blessing and Nicki allowed it, I need to go back and watch that again.... I took it to be a "blessing", because Nicky had just finished telling Barb that she was lonely & didn't have any kindness in her, where Barb responded, "I know". Then Barb ask Nickie to sit down on the bed (rather forcefully the 2nd time) times twice before Nickie finally did it. As Nicky was telling Barb that she didn't like to be touched. They hugged while sitting on the bed, then Nickie's head was on Barb's right shoulder, & Barb put her hand on Nickie's head & they had their eyes closed. Again, I took it to be a blessing pertaining to Nickie's feelings of loneliness & lack of kindness.

I think Nicki came to know the true love of a family. Margene and Barb no longer had to stay with her, yet they did. Nicki is always going to be irritable and difficult but they love her anyway.

Nicki is truly the only wife who did not get anything out of fact that Bill died. She still believes in the princple. Now she has 2 sister wives but no husband. 11 months later she was still dispondent. There is so much more to say in this show but we are not going to get it. What happens next is anyone's guess. At least we didn't get a black screen like The Sopranos. But still we don't have closure....we have to determine the closure ourselves.

At least she got to keep her daughter. Let's hope her and CL develop a good mother/daughter relationship. That would be a good thing for Nicki.

Nikki at least can choose to get remarried or not this time. But she may still be scared of love. I think that's what she got, honesty with herself over the fact that love scares her. I'm not so sure that's happy though.
