After having time to process that "emotional" last scene on Sunday, I have come to my own personal conclusion of how I wish the creators would have ended the last scene in the finale. I wish that (Olsen and Scheffer) would have ended it where Bill was telling Barb to give him a "Blessing..." As the sky made the scene get brighter and blurrier, we would hear Barbara say the blessing and then Bill smile and credits roll..... I wish it would have ended this way because it would have left it to the viewer to decide in their own minds and fantasy if Bill had died or lived. (I of course choose the latter! ..... I know the producers wanted to end it with "closure," but by ending it that way they would have (IMO) given a " gift" to the viewers. They would have left their heroic "protaganist" Bill Henrickson fate in the minds of the loyal viewers. It would have been clear that Bill had that revelation that faith comes from the love of Family and we all would have known that Barbara was accepted as a "Priesthood" holder in her Family. They still could have wrapped up the storylines of (Sarah and Scott) before the final scene. Yes, it wouldn't pan to 11 months later, but we could have found out in a phone call or visit that Sarah was pregnant. They still could have shown Margene coming to her "own" and going on a Mission to help others. They could have showed that Ben and Heather would be together, etc.. etc... Anyway, it's said and done, but I wish that this is the way the creators would have ended it. ;D

I think that a perfect ending would've been right after Bill had the vision during his church service. It would've left the ending ambiguous enough to leave viewers guessing, but also would've left it so that Bill could become Prophet at Juniper Creek.

The point of the epilogue was to show that the family continues together, without Bill. The wive's love for each other did not depend on their husband. Call me sappy, but it also let us see happy endings for the kids: Benny, Sarah, Heather, and Cara Lynn.

I liked the ending, showing what happened 11mo later, due to it being a 5yr ongoing show. I think it showed us that in the end, it is love & family that is important. As Bill stated faith comes from that; not the other way around.
I also think that the writers owed the invested viewers that last part with the family & Bill looking on, Family & Love! I loved the finale.

Jules, DH is the visionary here, lol. He says, nah, Bill didn't really die, they'll be back for another later season?? Uh, I wish he was right. I too, hated that Bill died, that blankety blank CARL. I hate to say this; but when I look @ the other shows on HBO; they're all so lame compared to BL, nuthin' really interests me.

Big Love was one of those shows that isn't like anything else out there and ending it so soon is just ridiculous! They could always bring it back, have the last scene play out with Bill sitting at the table and then... The sound of an alarm clock... Bill wakes up sweating and heart pounding... Looks over at a sleeping barb and realizes it was all just a bad dream and going into politics isn't a good idea afterall... The show just picks up the day after he announces he is thinking of going into public office at the picnic table in the backyard.

Yes indeedy Hmmm, HBO may change their mind when BL folks begin dropping HBO, like flies. {btw, anyone dropping HBO, be sure to explain why to your cable service folks}. It's not like the writers have left town, as they also write for 2 or more other shows on HBO.

If they do something like that (the ever popular "it was all a dream" plot) I will fly to California myself and pickit the HBO offices!!!!

LOL!
Normally the "it was all a dream" plots aren't my favorite... But for a show like this I'd be willing to make an exception so we could see how it would play out with the casino still in place with Tommy and Jerry and Bill never going down the political road.

I like this idea of an "it was all a dream" plot. Right now my heart is breaking and i would support any endeavor to resurrect the show. I think that the ending was just awful. I don't think that anyone really got what they wanted. I think that some of the fans got what they wanted, because they had a big problem with Big Love, meaning polygamy.
I would have like to see the family really stay together with Bill as their center.
Maybe we can build a movement to resurrect the show.
