Bill began the talks in the Senate (on record) regarding the flds in fighting for womens merits & legalization of polygamy & demands "our day in the sun & that conversation has now begun."
Thoughts....

The one thing that stood out too me during that whole scene was not Bill's speech. Bill has always been charismatic. It was the guy who spoke to Barb when she called out the LDS church for their repression of women. The way he said his line it felt like he was really saying, "How dare you, a female, speak to me, a man, that way."

Bill did make history - Bill's murder right now makes me feel as though all of Bill's efforts were for nothing. I don't think Bill bringing his family into the light changed anything about Polygamy. If anything, the people who cannot make it in the real world have been left with their compound turned upside down. I think leaving Juniper Creek in shambles makes room for someone else worst than Roman - worst than Alby to take over as Prophet & Compound Leader. Mainstream polygamist I think would be more afraid of coming into the light after seeing what happens to Bill.
It just seems to me - right now - that Bill's efforts were for nothing. Barb was led into Polygamy really for no good reason. I get the feeling that The Principle of Plural Marriage will never be practiced by another Henrickson again. I don't think Barb, Nicki or Margene will live The Principle again. If Bill would have never led Barb into Polygamy I think Bill would still be alive - Bill would probably be a legit member of Senate if he would have remained true to the vows he kept when he married Barb.

I don't think JC will have another prophet not in the terms of Alby and Roman. I thought that point was made when all of the compound families showed up at Bill's church. Maybe they are still attending Bill's church and Don and Barb are leading them.

The only true believer in polygamy shouting out the equivalent of "sisterhood is powerful" was a great moment. Bill's point that outlawing polygamy allowed outlaws to take it over was well taken. How many times have we seen what happens when something that is natural to many people is outlawed? Examples: prohibition of alcohol, drugs, same-sex love, prostitution. When government creates a crime out of something that many people are going to do anyway, nothing good ever results.
Good for Bill for at least raising the question.

From Duets: "The FLDS trace their roots back to the Brigham Young era in the 19th century. Despite being in the Victorian era, the women of early Utah were surprisingly outspoken, had their own women’s organization, pushed for the right to vote, taught self-sufficiency, and encouraged education and trades.
Sister-wifehood IS powerful!

Rissmeek, I hope that you are right! We know that 11 months after Bill's death - Barb is "The Priest" of the church. When Barb told Sarah "your father made this possible" I got the impression that Bill was writing his revelation that women could hold The Priesthood on that legal pad prior to being gun downed by Carl. We also know that 11 months later Bill's church must still be thriving because we know that Barb is performing baptisms & is in the pulpit - a place Sarah never thought she would see her mom & a place Barb never thought she would look out from & see her daughter Sarah who would not be at the church if it wasn't for her mom being in the pulpit - this, to me, is beautiful & this beauty is because of Bill.

I was touched when Bill told Barb he needed a blessing from her and literally ask for it with his dying breath. He was asking for a blessing, but he was really giving Barb the blessing of acknowledging her right to have her own relationship with Heavenly Father and to hold the priesthood in her own right.
Don't we all hope we will get it right in time, even if there are only seconds left on this earth?

Don't we all hope we will get it right in time, even if there are only seconds left on this earth? Not only that but he answered her question from the bedroom. Barb said to Bill when he was leaving, "You have your other two wives, who do I have?" Bill answered her by telling her that she not only had the priesthood but she had her two sister-wives too.
