Certainly is convenient for the menfolk, isn't it?

Why are men so fixated on virgins? Afraid of comparison?

Line 65:
When did God command Abraham to take Hagar to wife?
From Genesis 16:1-3 1 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar; 2 so she said to Abram, “The LORD has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said. 3 So after Abram had been living in Canaan ten years, Sarai his wife took her Egyptian slave Hagar and gave her to her husband to be his wife.
It seems like Sarai gave Abram Hagar, not God. And that story didn't really end that well.

There is that. I was thinking of the immediate story. Both Sarai and Hagar ended up not getting along at all, to the point where Hagar and Ishmael were forced to leave and Abram was back to only one wife. Seems funny to use that story as the model for polygamy considering the husband ended up being a monogamist in the end.

Also doesn't put First Wife Sarai in the best light. She tosses her sister wife and her husband's oldest son out in the desert to die.
It cracks me up when the Bible beaters want us all to uphold "family values" like the ones in the Bible.

Speaking of family values, the story in the Bible that comes immediately before Abram and Sarai is Lot and his daughters. They fled the fire and brimstone in Sodom and Gomorrah and took refuge in a cave in the mountains above the city. There was nobody left from the destruction of the city, and the girls were afraid they would die as barren old maids. So they got their father drunk on wine (where did they get the wine?) so they could both do the deed with him. It worked. They each got pregnant. Nice girls. Nice dad. Nice family values.
HBO should make a series out of the Book of Genesis. The material is far too raunchy for network TV.

As an LDS member I just wanted to put my two cents in here. The Doctrine of Covenants is not in the actual Book of Mormon; it is supplemented later as revelations given to Joseph Smith. Nevertheless, we as Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints believe that scripture is the Holy Bible, The Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants & Pearl of Great Price. Joseph Smith had a revelation from "Heavenly Father" that polygamy was okay. This was during a time of great persecution of members of the Church. Many wives were losing husbands to this great peril and as it was directed for husbands to take on other wives was a way to have the women protected under one husband. I know that sounds strange to people and many will say well why would you have to have men marry multiple wives to protect them? There is nothing like a protection of a husband to his Family. If you would like to learn more about LDS and why polygamy was banned, please click on the link I am adding from our official Church web page. lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?locale=0&sourceId=9887ec6f164b2110VgnVCM100000176f620a____&vgnextoid=bbd508f54922d010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRDI know it is easy to read things and get opinions, but I just want to say that LDS is a beautiful church and it has brought me the utmost of happiness in my life.

In trying to save Lot from Sodom and Gomorrah, he was made a victim to his daughters!

Jules, I sincerely did not mean to offend you or anyone else regarding their religious beliefs, and I hope nothing I said was hurtful to you. I personally have no issues with any religion, as long as its adherents don't try to use the government or other means to coerce others into living by the rules and beliefs of any particular faith. I'm a member of a main stream protestant denomination and have been all my life. Sing in the choir. President of the women's group, and, like Barb I believe that I can work from within to change the things I think are wrong with the doctrine of my church. For example, my denomination does not allow for the ordination GLBT persons and will not allow same sex marriage. I think my church is wrong and, yes, unchristian, in this position. However, I'm not going to leave and start my own church. Like Barb, I'll work from within to change those rules. After all, it hasn't been that long since my church did not allow the ordination of women, so I know that change is possible. My issue with organized religion is when it wants the entire culture to conform to it's beliefs, such as having the state deny legal marriage to same sex couples or limiting a woman's right to certain medical services. If a church wants to forbid same-sex marriages or forbid it's members from having an abortion, that's fine with me, as long as it doesn't try to impose those values, or any other set of religious values, on everybody outside the church. I think it's wonderful that you have a rich and meaningful life in your church. Your happiness may be attracting many other people to learn more about your faith. And I appreciate all sharing of the real LDS perspective on this board. Friends? I hope! WWB

Sometimes you just can’t decide what kind of escort girl in Antalya escortsiteantalya.com you want to see this night. So all you have to do is to go to the Internet and choose the best one for yourself.
