Since everyone lives somewhere, I thought it would be fun to list your state & what (if any) Mormon tourist or historical sites are in the area. Whether you've visited one or not & anything you'd like to add about your visit.

I'll go first: Nevada
Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort Historic Park 500 E. Washington Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89101 (702) 486-3511
"The Old Mormon Fort shows how the town of Las Vegas came into existence through faith, hope, determination and the ability to overcome adversity.
It's hard to imagine now, but Las Vegas, Spanish for The Meadows, once was an oasis in the desert, with free-flowing water and an abundance of lush grass as far as the eye could see. It became a popular resting point for the native Paiute, traders, miners and others passing through the region.
In 1855, William Bringhurst led a group of 29 Mormon missionaries from Utah to the Las Vegas Valley. The missionaries built a 150-square-foot adobe fort near a creek and used flood irrigation to water their crops, a process still used at the park...."
" The ranch house, the oldest building in Nevada, contains informative exhibits tracing the area's history, including a collection of photographs of the fort spanning from 1934 to 1992. The ranch house also contains a pump organ, spinning wheel and butter churner, all used by former inhabitants. Other artifacts found at the fort include an apple corer, cake griddle, rug beater and bullet mold. A replica of the first flag flown over Vegas is displayed along one wall, complete with 19 stars and 13 stripes."
I have been to this site. It was very original as best as it could be at this age. Very interesting to visit & only imagine what is was like in the times it was first built. Very small, not a lot to see per se; but what was there, I enjoyed. I would recommend if you're in the area.

I'm in Kansas but just barely. I'm about an hour away from Independence. I've been to the RLDS temple. It's very pretty. According the official Mormon list we have
Liberty Jail Haun's Hill Adam-ondi-Ahman Independence (as a whole is listed I'm going to have to check this out. My dad was from there gotta find more out now) Zion's Camp Troost Park (another one I'm going to have to check out now) Three Witnesses Memorial Saluda Memorial
It's not listed on the official list but there in a marker in Council Grove, KS about some Mormon pioneers. I can't remember what it said and of course I didn't take a picture of it.

I divide my time between Manhattan, New York and Los Angeles, California. Neither of these are that close to where i live, but i thought this would be a fun thread to participate in. Mormon Battalion Historic Site: San Diego, CA ( 2 hrs from me) Hill Cumorah: Manchester, NY ( 5.5 hrs from me)
