Jailed Warren Jeffs retakes FLDS presidency I was just looking around to see what is new in the world of the FLDS folks. What I found is shocking to some degree & very typical in others. Apparently Jeffs has just recently purged some 30 folks from the flds! This comes with it's own flds lingo attached. " When a member of the FLDS is exiled, or " handled," it means he or she is asked to leave the church’s property and repent from a distance, Holm said. Some eventually return. "’ Handled’ means either a man’s priesthood is lost, or it’s in question between Warren and the Lord," he said." Meanwhile Jeffs has a phone in his cell & with a pre-paid phone card is calling the church & piping in his voice each Sunday! Just to add a little more info: Re: Merril Jessop (in the article) being purged from Jeffs flock. Remember him? M. Jessop, he's the (previous) husband of Carolyn Jessop who wrote " Escape", & forced to marry MJ when she was 18 (being his 4th wife); she fled in 1993. Then supposedly Jeffs even purged the Mayor of Colorado City! "Though names and numbers couldn’t be confirmed with members of the church, former members who still live in the communities say Jeffs exiled both Nielsen and Zitting, along with several other top leaders: Merril Jessop, head of the group’s Yearning for Zion Ranch in Texas; James Oler, bishop of the group’s Canadian settlement; and Terrill Johnson, mayor of Colorado City, Ariz."To read more about Carolyn Jessop, click below: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolyn_Jessop

Didn't Jeffs have that whole confession that he wasn't really the prophet? Now he is? Wow. He is one busy guy...there is no one else to lead the flock but him? Merrill Jessop was very high up in the FLDS. Wow. Wonder what he did?

Marigoldmama, Yes, he did have the prophet confession thing, back when he was going thru the motions w/arrest, court, etc. I suppose he had another revelation (to take it over) again, from jail last month. I suspect that Merrill will be back in his good graces again soon, once he goes afar & repents. I seriously doubt that Jeffs can continue w/o him; he's been a right hand man too long, to just walk away. Plus, if he has to leave to repent etc, I'd say his wives are totally panicked as they could be resealed. [last count I came up with in '70, he had some 15 wives & 100 children!] He's a long-timer w/Jeffs. I would suspect that since the TX raid took place, MJ was there & apparently he along w/29 or so others did or said something that wasn't according to Jeffs way of thinking. I too wonder what happened, because he of all people knows how the brother watching brother system works there & I'm sure he knows how to or how not to respond to the officials. MJ was like 18y/o or so, when the short creek raid (1953) occurred & he was there with his family@ the time (just a tid-bit of info for ya). I found this article where Merril discusses the event to the flock, as remembered as a youth, kinda long, good read. www.fldstruth.org/sysmenu.php?MParent=HISTORY&MIndex=26&SParentID=10

Hildale, UT has a new mayor, hmm. I wonder why & who orchestrated this event? Why am I NOT surprised? "Hildale councilman steps into mayoral role" "The City Council here approved a fellow councilman to replace the community's mayor of 25 years Tuesday."www.topix.com/city/hildale-ut
