Who is Maggie? and what happened with her? She is mentioned by Bill, Joey and Lois Wasn't she Bill's sister, the one who did something like commit suicide rather than be in an arranged marriage? Others please respond......appreciate the info along with cathieu. You got it right. Maggie was Lois's only daughter who drowned herself rather than agree to an arranged marriage. After her death, Lois cut off her hair and quit wearing the prairie dresses.

I didnt know that either. I dont recall that in an episode. Just the referenct to Maggie. The episode containing that information, I think, is the one where Roman has ousted most of Bill's compound family, his mom, dad, dad's other wives, brother Joey and his wife Wanda from the compound....they are all staying at Bill's extended 3 houses.... At one point, Lois is taking her first really warm bath with Sarah in attendance. The conversation somehow turns to how her husband Frank and her fellow sister-wives view her, Lois. She tells Sarah that when Maggie, her beloved daughter drowned she was "Bone sad." She tells how her great grandfather used to tell stories about how ancient people, grieving the loss of a loved one would cut their hair short to demonstrate to the world the depth of their loss. So she cut her hair because of the intensity of her own sorrow at the loss of her much-loved daughter. At one point the conversation is: "Everyone thought I was proud and ugly. Ugly and special. “ “Scared,” Sarah says. “Scared,” Lois agrees. Sarah gently helping her grandma wash her shoulders, listening with every bit of attention she could muster to the story of grief. I am pretty sure I recall the dialog exactly, (I have it on DVD and have watched it about 10 times!) It was such a beautifully performed and directed scene.I believe that we found out why and how Maggie had died from a conversation between Bill and Joey in the barn. I think it was the last episode of season 3. Joey tells Bill that Maggie's death was not an accident, as Bill had been told, but a suicide because she did not want to be married as ordered by Roman. This was while Bill was exiled from the compound so he had never known the details.
