Hi All, new here. I looked over the threads and cannot find the answer to my question, so thought I would ask here. Does anyone know the behind the scenes explanation of why the actress who played Teeney's is no longer on Big Love? She was replaced this season, season 4. Curious. Thanks!

The other Teeny was getting too old too fast, so they got a younger one.

With all the time between episodes I can see how that could be true. She did grow up very quickly it seemed, while the other kids all stayed around the same ages.

I remember reading somewhere (think it might have been the old hbo boards) that the actress who played teeny had decided to leave the business, or her parents had decided she should. (something like that?) I'll see if I can find an article on it ... if so i'll post the link

hmm... not sure which version is true, but here's a peice of an article i found addressing the change : Can you talk about the decision to recast Teenie, now played by Bella Thorne? Because our show is structured so tightly, we usually don’t have year-breaks between seasons in show time. We never have time for our characters to age with our actors, which is OK generally. Luckily Wayne, God bless him, hasn’t had a growth spurt yet, knock on wood. He just gets older and older and stays Wayne, you know? But unfortunately our Teenie [Jolean Wejbe] — our cute little pixie — just shot up. By the time she was 13 playing 11, she started to become tall and looked like she was turning into a 15-year-old. So what we decided to do was recast. And I think we’ve handled this in a way that is very flawless, so that when Teenie comes home from camp…it’s almost like you don’t even realize that there’s been a change. You kind of get a sense of how Teenie’s changed over the course of her time at camp, and how she’s gone from being this confused girl showing pornography to the neighborhood boys, and comes back as this more controlled, LDS kind of girl. You almost think well, that’s the same actress: Her character’s changed because she’s been away at an LDS camp. It was a very difficult decision to make, and we were afraid that it would bug people. But I feel now that it was the right decision, and it just gives us so many opportunities now to play more of Teenie, and have that character much more active in the life of the series. It is kinda sad actually...It isn't the actress's fault she grew up quickly.
What bothers me...Correct me if I am wrong...But the actress they have playing Teenie now seems exactly as grown up as the previous actress was?
I mean she was wearing pig tails but she also looked to be about 15 years old.
Is it just me?

No, not just you. In fact it never occured ot me that their reason for recasting was due to a growth spurt... atleast not after seeing the new Teeny. I actualy think she looks more gorwn up than the old teeny... minus the cute freckles

I think the main reason the other actress was let go was she got boobs.

I'm the one who suggested that the first actress left the show of her own accord. I remember reading that her parents were reluctant to have her involved "in the business," and that school was important for her. A lot of the information about her has been removed from IMDB.com.
I think she just had other options to explore in her life, and the show (and perhaps some of the not-so-nice things said about her acting last season) were just not right for her.

On the other hand, if they let her go because she wasn't really good enough, saying she grew up too fast is a good excuse. I hope not. I really hope it was the choice of her family.

I thought she did a fine job acting. You know, you watch some shows and you say to yourself "Geeze that girl is a horrible actress...Where'd they find her?" This just wasn't my opinion of Teenie.
She never had much of a storyline anyway...She was never front burner or had a lot of dialouge so I can't imagine it being an acting skill issue.

There was a lot of discussion on the boards in the past 2 years about how old Teeny was supposed to be and arguments about how much time was supposed to have passed vs how much some of the kids had grown. It probably was a combination of several reasons. I also noticed that Teeny seemed to disappear right after her storyline became much more "grown-up". As in something that a parent may not have wanted their child to participate in.
