I'm not trying to say that dale isnt enjoying their affair on some level , but (to me) it also looks like he is using sex as way to manipuate alby. My first thought was that alby would be th eone to use / blackmail dale... now i'm thinking dale might have got the jump on him.
what do you think?

I think they are both cut from the same cloth...They both love gay sex and they both have ulterior motives. LOL!

Say what you will... I'm certainly not trying to politically please anybody.... But I really hope they end the Alby/Dale storyline ASAP. I enjoy when the writers push the envelope... but the repetitive gay scenes is over the top. I really don't need to see 2 guys kissing, (especially not that often). I don't think we've even seen a hetero couple kiss that much yet this whole season. I do hope that Alby is exposed to everyone somewhere down the line. But if this storyline doesn't end soon, I'm flippin' the switch to another show.

I wondered about the cell phone photo Alby snapped of the two of them. For blackmail, or a memento? And how likely is Lura to see that? I love the Dale/Alby storyline, Alby's one of my favorite (love to hate!) characters and Dale's interesting enough, so far. I hope this plot line continues and I love Roman too, so to see him back haunting Alby was delightful!

I don't have a problem with gay people at all...BUT...I agree these gay scenes are seriously overkill...
Then Alby smelling his breath and telling Dale "I can still taste you on my lips!"
It wouldn't be so bad if we were seeing some hot hetero sex scenes too...But the only sex scenes we are getting this season are gay sex scenes lol!
I don't mind it...I just wish they'd even it up a bit...Maybe have bill smell his breath and tell Margie "I can still taste your pussy on my lips" lmfao!

I think the cell phone picture is going to get Alby into more trouble, and perhaps be the key piece that ruins him. I have a feeling his wife is going to find it and start some blackmail of her own.
IMHO this whole Alby as a closeted man storyline is building up to some kind of pivotal moment where the producers will make their agenda known on the topic of homosexuality. Cut and dried, I think they are trying to reach the homosexual audience AND, at the same time, trying to get the more conservative audience to sympathize with Alby when Dale tries to take him down via the affair.

I think this is probable. Though personally I would have much rathered Sarah and Heather having a secret romance! I think realistically though, much of society still lumps polygamists and homosexuals under the same "SEXUAL DEVIANT" umbrella and this might be HBO's way of touching on that, and reaching out to an audience that hasn't had a 'voice' in the show really. Also, it's not like it's remarkably graphic, so those of you complaining about the gratuitous gay sex scenes need to get over yourselves.

the gay scenes are disgusting. The writers have ran out of ideas and are just using shock to keep the story 'interesting'. In previous seasons it was obvious that Alby was gay while not having to show it.
I started to watch the show cuz Bill had three wives and he had to constantly pop viagra to keep going.
This season they hired some homosexual writers...it's a shame but this show is done.

You know who I think should have a lesbien romance...After last night's eppy...Margie and Jodine!
Now THAT would be way more interesting than Heather and Sarah. Not that Sarah and Heather wouldn't be interesting...But I think the whole fully clothed, brainwashed, supressed Jodine being in a lesbien relationship would make it a whole lot more interesting.

Oh, that would be interesting, bigloverocks, I agree!
Kyros, they're showing it more because it's more vital to the plotline now. Before it was just a small dark secret. Now, it is obviously going to get Alby in trouble, either with Juniper Creek as a whole, or with Lura his wife, or with Dale himself. What I don't understand is how someone like yourself can be open-minded enough to be a fan of Big Love, but intolerant enough to be a homophobe!

Hey all, since the gay scenes this ep seem to be a topic of interest to so many (and this thread has gotten a little off topic) I started a new thread : "gay scenes this ep, what'd ya think?" to continue the discussion. Thought it might be interesting...
As to who's using who (th eoriginal topic) I think whoever said they're cut from teh same cloth may be right. I also feel like Alby is having some real feelings for dale though... maybe his first taste of falling in love? and i think that's going to cloud his vision just enough to allow dale the upper hand in any hidden agendas he may have.

I agree, it's showing both a softer side of Alby, but also a vulnerability! Dale will gain he upper hand here and Alby will falter.

Dale is in charge of handling the compound's / Roman's money ,correct? (after being appointed by the state)
During the preview for next episode, it looked (to me) like dale had somehow conned / misguided Alby into turning over the UEB funds ... but to who? why?
Is it just a matter of Dale trying to free Alby of his compound upbringing / beleifs?

Dale is more conflicted and upset about his homosexual tendencies than Alby is. Dale believes it is sin, he definitely feels guilt because he has a wife and kids, he led a gay-recovery support/prayer group. In the hotel scene, when they were both in robes, Dale reassured Alby that they wouldn't have these urges in heaven, and Alby seemed relieved. But Dale sounded like he wanted to work with Alby, make money for Juniper Creek, be a "pair", and Alby said, "if we work together, no one must ever know..."
Alby pursued Dale, kissing him in public, being the aggressor when Alby made his lawyer leave the room. Dale was hurt afterwards that Alby just wanted sex, then nothing more -- Alby insisted that he wasn't gay, that they were just "fooling around".
The picture Alby took with his cell phone...I think he has blackmail on his mind if the money thing with UEB doesn't go his way. But I don't know if Alby is bright enough to consider that if he uses it to blackmail Dale, it will also expose himself.
