BigLoveRocks - I also wondered if it was going to end up being a dream. I really couldn't put my finger on it until your post. I don't remember having the feeling of a storm (lightenting, etc), but I do remember the wind and the strange way they were all standing there. It felt strange. Plus Bill's tone in the speech stayed the same. I kept wondering when he was going to say say "Now wait a minute...." in response to people leaving. He stayed focused and didn't really show a lot of emotion - at least that I remember. I do need to watch it again.
I am not hugely upset by how the show ended, but I am not that happy with it either. I don't like the different paths Bill led the family down this year. Bill had plenty of people trying to tell him runnign was the worst of all of them. The three best indications were Sara leaving, Don's son and the windo and the way Barb has started talking to him and looking at him. It would be great if it were a dream and he really "woke up" and starting healing his family. That probably wouldn't be as interesting a show though.

That was a mighty small crowd for a winning politician. I was expecting Don to stand up and start clapping after all the wives were introduced, followed by a swell of the crowd with cheering and clapping. How embarassing and wierd for a winner to stand in front of a totally silent crowd on election night. Doesn't bode well, Bill.

I really didn't expect a standing ovation when Bill came out Poly to everyone. It was also horribly bad timing! If he still wanted to expose the family, he should have at least waited a few years until the public got used to him.... (sigh)

Agree with you kambria. Especially when all the stuff is coming out about the incest with the Kansas group. They will surely attach Bill to it even though that's not what he and his family is doing.

It was a mighty small crowd , b/c it is a mighty small political position to hold. Seemed to me the majority of the crowd were members of the local press. Nobody else really cared. lol The Henrickson's are not going to be welcomed with open arms by any means regardless.

All I could concentrate on was Barb and what she had said a scene or two before.

OK, I've been thinking about this for a couple of days now. Last season, right after Kathy Marquardt's accident, Joey was in a barn at night. Bill came into the barn, had words with Joey ending with Joey leaving in a huff. Bill then tried to go after Joey, but fell thru the floor. The last scene of the episode was Bill looking into the sky - and as I remembered, it seemed like the stars were rushing towards him. The next episode, there was no mention of the barn, but it seemed like Bill and others were in a dream state. So, I agree with you that maybe, this season was a dream caused by Bill being in a coma, and that next season, Bill wakes up to realize the error of his ways and he makes an attempt not to let this dream come true.

If the whole season was a dream, I'll be so pissed!
I think Bill's acceptance speech was meant to have a nightmare vibe to it because it's going to be the start of a nightmare for the whole family.

I'll 2nd that!
The writers have said that their game plan all along was to have the family come out publilcly. They even thought about having it happen back when Barb was outted at the mother of the year thing... but decided it was too soon. So, sadly - i dont think their coming out was dream , but as AS said above ... it will end up a nighmare for the family.

Camera flashes, not lightening at the end. I rewatched the epi with the captions turned on. At the very end when the wind is blowing and there are flashes of light, the caption says, "camera flashes"....or something like that.

On the subject of the order in which he called them up. Possibly Bill started with Nikki and Margene to put pressure on Barb. He knew he could count on Nikki to stand up. He can depend on Margene to buckle under the pressure of the moment (any moment), but he wasn't sure what Barb would do. What if he called her up first, and she refused to come up? After #2 & #3 were already up and on the platform, there would be no point for Barb to hold out. He set it up so that she was honored (my first wife, my first love), but she was also squeezed.

I agree. He knew Nikki would go up on stage, no matter what. Margene is a sheep and will follow. But even if Barb didn't walk up on stage, she had already been introduced as his wife via the campaigning. I wish this whole season was a dream, but that's been done before. In the long run, the public outing will be good for story lines. I just wish they hadn't done it in such an improbable scenario.
