Why did Nicki freak when she found out about Joey?

I thought she hated Roman and wanted him dead?

Then, she suddenly gets mad that someone killed him? I thought she would've been happy or at least, not interested.

Did I miss something?

Nicki hated Roman...but some part of her always did and always will love him because he was her father. When she came to tell Alby that Roman was dead and Adaleen had stashed him in the freezer, Alby acted delighted and Nicki scolded him, "Stop it! This is very sad!"

It seems like Nicki was more freaked out that Bill knew about Joey killing Roman and hadn't told her. He really did try that night, just Nicki was having her own personal crisis about her fertility problems, her self-image as a woman and wife, etc.

Nicki forgave Bill pretty quickly though. She sees Joey as a dangerous person and she needs to protect Wanda from him, but overall, the characters on the show seem to take murder or attempted murder in stride. Joey smothered Roman (not that he didn't deserve it), Wanda was poisoning people, Lois tried to suffocate Frank, Kathy was killed in a wreck but it's because she was fleeing a horrible fate. I know it's just a show, but everybody just seems to take murder in stride like, "oh well, if they die, we'll just bury them out at Juniper Creek and the cops will never know." Anyone else get the feeling?

I think Nikki finally felt she knew where she stood with Bill, and in her words she "finally gave him her heart" and truly bonded with Bill... And she was the last to know. Barb knew, then she found out JJ knew so she felt like everyone knew but her. I can understand how angry that made her. I hate being left int he dark. I get really pissed when I find out something has been kept from me.

I think she forgave Bill so quickly because he explained he was trying to tell her.

I think Nikki also has mixed feelings about her dad. She hates what he's done, but he is still her dad so she loves him regardless of how evil he was.

Speaking of Joey. Is he literally going to get away with murder?

I don't think Nicki likes killing much. She cares if her relatives get offed.

I know she pushed Roman down a flight of stairs. I think she hoped he'd break a hip. Not the same as killing someone. Neither is laughing with Alby about his Wile E Coyote candy bomb idea.

She'll forgive Joey, when she remembers why he did it. Right now, she has to deal with her rage and care for the catatonic Wanda.

I thought the whole situation and Nikki's reaction was understandable. Roman was her father after all and she did have a right to know what happened to her father. It was about trust.

I think that just because you hate someone and want them dead, doesn't necessarily mean you actually want them dead. And I imagine you really don't want them to be murdered by your brother-in-law who also happens to be the husband of your bestfriend, and then have it all kept secret from you.

I don't know that Nicki ever actually wanted her father "dead"... she may have been angry at him, she may have begun to see him for what he was (and shed the "prophet" image of him). Had Roman lived I doubt he would have retained his hold on Nicki, but I do think she loved him.

actually she was having kind of a fond memory of him (keeping the quilt she made him at the end of his bed) when Barb inadvertently broke the news about his being killed by Joey.

I think Niki had a lot of conflicted feelings about Roman her father-- remeber of all of them she is the one who most adheres and beleives in the principle-- it is only now she is atrting to ?? things but yet she is drawn abck to JC-- she loves Wanda & she loves Alby, and a part of her always seems to yearn for her mother to love her as well------ also I think the fact that Bill told the others and not her, was too much-- again Bill feels he can pick and chose what he wants-- I was very impressed with Niki though when she went to confront Joey and found Wanda in that state that she went into protection mode & got wanda & her baby out of there.
She got her priorities staright-- I respect Niki because of her loyalty to her friends brother faith
I don't think she gets ebough credit at home from the other wives-- sure they treat margie like a slut(she is), but Niki always gets knocked down and treated as an annoyance

Does anyone think its kinda ironic that Nicki's spying on the D.A. was the catalyst for all the events eventually lead to her father's murder. The reason Joey killed Roman was to avenge Kathy Marquarts (Joeys 2nd wife to be) death. And ultimatley, the reason Kathy was killed (the original plan was to seal her to Hollis and send her to Mexico) was because she was going to testify against Roman, which would have sent him to prison for some time. Nicki's actions at the D.A.'s office, directly lead to kathy's death. Now Nicki did what she did because she believed she had to follow her fathers order's, but the point is, Nicki played a role in Kathy's death, and therefore, her fathers!


The real irony actually lies in the notion that had nicki not spied on the D.A.'s office, her father could probably still be alive....because he'd be in prison most likely. That is, assuming Roman didnt find another way to "spy" on the DA.....and thats another whole discussion.....Nicki probably wasnt the only person who could have been Romans eyes and ears in the DA's office.


The point is, Nicki's actions contributed enormously to Kathy's death, and ultimatley, her fathers'.
