I was watching some old season 1 and 2 episodes yesterday . . . and Bill was actually nice! He had a sense of humor and he was kind and everything! I'm so used to hating this new Bill that it was kinda strange to see him be more normal.
I hope this doesn't become one of those shows where the characters lose their personalities and grow more extreme and one-sided for the purpose of dramatic plots.
Has anyone else noticed how much more hardcore he's become?

I know! I really started off liking Bill and admiring him. I was impressed that he was able to provide so well for three wives and all of his children. Each of wife, in my opinion, has a really nice house with nice furniture. All of the homes are decorated pretty and the homes are organized. All of the children are dressed well. I think when I first watched the show it was more about the wives. My attention was on them to see how they managed. I remember Nikki getting Margene jealous for getting Bill to have sex in Margene's house. I will be thinking of when I think things started to slip for Bill. He could be taking on too much home plus, the casino, politics. I remember in the beginning Bill not wanting anything to do with Juniper Creek, his mother, father or brother. I remember his mother telling Bill "you have got to talk to your brother." Now Bill seems to be very involved with Juniper Creek. Everyone has changed a great deal since the show has started. It will be interesting to find out how everything comes together and where this family will be in a couple of years.

I have totally noticed this too. I remember in season one how Bill sat in his car praying humbly for the guidance to do right by his family, how he would fast to clear his mind to receive direction, things like that. It's been a disappointment to see him change but I suppose that if the show's creators' long view is to have him return to Juniper Creek, he has to have a big fall.
I would normally think that Goran isn't looking to blackmail Bill as much as he is trying to protect Anna and himself -- let's face it, in their position I would not hestitate to warn off the Henrickson clan by reminding them that they have a lot to lose. Don't push me, in other words. But since the series, love it though I do, has jumped the shark, my guess is that, like Bill, Goran will not do the logical thing as much as do the creepy thing. And the coming attractions look pretty creepy.
But back to Bill, yeah, he makes me want to shake him and yell, "Hey, I stuck up for you! What happened?"

I always saw bill as hypocrite but he has really regressed this season-- I actually feel that Roman had more faith/beleif in the principle than Bill exhiibts
