I hope that MOST people don't believe that that's the main/only difference. Not by a long shot. Baptists are Christian and so are Lutherans. Big difference. Just because those on the compound or any FLDS, believe both the Bible and Book of Mormon, please don't put us in the same bag.

I apologize for my previous post. I was trying to keep it short , but in turn did inadvertently say that polygamy was the only difference between LDS and FLDS - which i dont beleive is true.
I guess I wasnt thinking of FLDS as those living on "compounds" or in the "warren Jeffs" sense in this instance - just those who still practive polygamy.
My point though is that even though there are obvious differences between the two (or there wouldnt be two) a lot of the basis between mainstream LDS and the FLDS that Barb beleives are not that far a leap. IOW's it's not as if she went from being catholic to wiccan or buddhist to baptist.
She hasnt completely given up her prior religion / beleifs , just switched to a different interpretation of it. There may be as great a difference between LDS and FLDS as there is between baptists and lutherans - but given that one was historically a part of the other, given that FLDS beleive they are living by the original / real meaning of the book of mormon, etc... I can see how it would have made it easier for barb to convert.
Again, sorry for my poorly worded previous post.

The mormons I know are pretty cool actually. They don't shove anything down your throat, they are just normal, nice everyday people. Unlike the southern pentacostal evangelicals on my husband's side of the family... Did I mention we left FL and moved to AZ to get away from them? LMFAO!
I have never met an FLDS person though. That might be interesting to come across one day.

When ex was in the Navy our last duty station was in Mississippi. I had a daughter born in Biloxi... How do you think they took to a mixed race (ish- Hisp/white) Mormon couple in Mississippi??? Twas an experience! Oh my! That had to be very interesting indeed lol! The people in the deep south are notoriously racist. Especially Ms, Al, Fl, Ga... I actually really like mormons. I'm a mixed race myself. My dad is half mexican half apache and my mom is white. They don't judge me, they treat me just as if I was a member of their own ward. I never hear them talk about people in an unkind way behind their backs either, like the other neighbors do. My inlaws HATE my mixed nationality and the fact that I went to catholic school as a kid, even though I'm not a practicing catholic. This is why they believe I am demon posessed mwahahah! As far as poor Barb goes though, I can totally understand why her little cope container is full. I think it would be kind of fun for the show to have some pentacostal evangelicals go all out rolling around in front of the casino speaking in tongues. I'd like to see her back out of that one saying "My cope container is full... IT IS FULL!"

All this stress is really not good for Barb. She had cancer and she should be living a more calm, peaceful life.
