Barb likes the idea of Margene staying in the house and filling it with more babies. If she has to work, she's providing her with the means to do it from there. Isn't that thoughtful? Margene doesn't think so, cuz she later asks Nickie (at Ana's) "Who's gonna fill up that big house?" She's banking on Ana and her baby, I guess. It's like a chess match, they have to think several steps ahead of the others.

I also think that Barb might be a little jealous of Margene's success.

I also think that Barb might be a little jealous of Margene's success. And her youth. And her sexiness. And her fertility. And Margie knows that Barb and Nicki are jealous, and she rubs it in every chance she gets.

I think it shows how both Barb and Nicki do not take Margene seriously. I would think that they would be happy for her success and congratulate her. That is what a family is supposed to do. Then and if Margenes business comes tumbling down, her family should be there for her to build her back up. I hope that Margene continues to be a success.
The Big New House reminds me of the Big House at Juniper Creek. It seems to me that Bill is subconsciously letting himself get pulled back into Juniper Creek a place he say that strongly dislikes. I think that there living arrangements are great now. I took their family as the modern polygamist. With that being said, all of the wives are able to have their own homes decorate it their own way.
In the beginning I remember a lot of jealousy of between the wives and time with Bill. I think that jealousy would come out again with all of them living in The Big House. I have never heard Barb, Nicki, or Margene say that they wanted to live in a Big House. This is another one of Bill's ideas. I think that he should have discussed it with his wives first.
The Big House reminds me too much of the Big House on Juniper Creek. I did not think that Bill wanted to live that way. I did not think that Barb wanted to live that way. I think Nicki would mind less because she grew up at Juniper Creek and seems to have the most understanding of living the principal and the politics of the different compounds.

I was so shocked by Barb's comments about the Big House. Maybe she is just feeling so lost and out of control she thinks that might be a good idea. The only one who could survive that mess of living together would be Nikki because she is used to it on the compound. I agree with the poster above that Barb has to have a plan.
I think Barb feels Bill will reign all the wives back in once they are out and he can concentrate on his family again. I think she hopes Bill will make Margene stop the business and get back to making babies.

I think the reason Marg and Barb haven't thought of this is because it's the LAST thing they want to happen. But absolutely, more wives make sense.

I agree with you and am glad that you reminded me Barb can't function without a plan. Also, maybe the Big House will allow Barb to feel more in control of her family, life and self. I do not know about Margene and Nikki. I would automatically say that Nikki would be for the Big House because that is what she is used to. I have gotten the impression that Margene wants a family. Remember when Margene would spend so much time at Barb's house because Margene was lonely and Barb told her to go home. Actually, Barb aksed Margene "you still have so many boxes in your house shouldn't you be home unpacking." Something close to that. I think Margene was at Barb's looking for hot chocolate when Ben told Margene that he had to grow up. It seems as though Margene has always wanted and has spent a lot of time at Barbs. That could have all changed now. Margene has told Barb and Nikki that she wants to be closer to them over and over again. Maybe The Big House is a good idea. I like their living arrangements now because I love all of their houses. Also, each wife gets to decorate her house the way she wants to. I think there are a lot of advantages of their current living arrangements. Has anyone seen the floor plans for The Big House? I think Barb was being sincere whe she said the "big house" was going to bring them closer together. Thing is, I think Barb realizes how seperated her family has become, how out of touch & divided... and she is going to grasp at ANYTHING that offers a shred of hope of "putting humpty dumpty back together again". Barb can't function without a plan, without somethign offering solid hope that she can hold onto. Rational or not I could see her buying into the renewed closeness she craves being facilitated by living closer - or together as one family. Maybe she see's it as a refuge for them after they "come out". She's running out of straws to grasp otherwise... and liek i said she needs one to be able to function. Margene's home office and barb's comment about business being temporary - i agree were spoken clues as to how she thinks things will go once they come out as poly. she's trying to prepare for it, in her very "barb" way of having a plan.
