That did seem like one hell of a party! If Joey was able to snag an automatic rifle they obviously weren't at their posts like they were supposed to be lol. I am watching the show again right now and Hollace just cracks me up "A safe journey to you, VERY truly yours... Hollace Green" What is wrong with that guy!!! Then he starts the call with Bill "Good evening!" MWAHHAHA!

The Greens are a small group, mostly consisting of one family. The security was lax because there were few of them, and because there was a party on. The offspring of Hollis and wives like Selma and some of the other 'fruit loops' we've seem are doubtfully much brighter than their parents. The cake would have been a distraction from their posts. If there were many hands around to help, surely they rather than Selma would be given the task of shooting people? They're just a small, nutso group.

I said this on another thread, but i think the Greene's are based on the real life "lebaron's". The Lebaron family was nuts - as in seriously metally ill - certifiable. They became sort of a moromon mafia. Look em up

I believe the Greens are based on the Lebarons; I think in the earlier seasons they were based on the Kingstons as well (ie talk of the Greens being inbred and also that the Greens in season two; were actually living in their factory; which is what the Kingstons are known for....)

The Lebarons were into incest as well... just not quite as famous for that as their killings. The greens seem to be a blending of both the lebarons and the kingston's... but i think lean more towards the former.

Yes I've heard that about the more recent Lebarons based in Utah; but not come across that fact in my reading up on the LeBarons around in the 60s and 70s in particular Ervil and Joels group in Mexico.
I do still think originally the writers were basing the Greens on both the Lebarons and the Kingstons; just as I feel originally; they were basing the Juniper Creek group on both the FLDS and the Allred Group/Apostolic United Brethren. Obviously as a TV show they couldn't make a seperate group in the storyline based on every group out there it would just be too complex. Anyway I say this because in the second season (possibly third) there was talk of a character clearly being based on Warren Jeffs (Orlean Abbot?) being arrested from another sect; and Roman criticised them for being child molestors; in the past there was an incidence of the then leader of the AUB, I believe it was Owen Allred, writing to newspapers and criticising other sects for underage marriages and other abuses; when those who had left his group said they were no different. Also the Lebarons and Allred group are closely related by both blood and marriage (as are the Kingstons in the past to the Allred group) and it was only in the 70s that they split into two, some close female relatives of Rulon Allred married LeBarons; just as Selma married Hollis Green. In real life it was Rulon Allred who was shot (and if you've ever seen the mugshot of those from the Lebaron cult who shot Rulon Allred; the women from the Greens were modelled exactly on them; even down to the 70s style clothing) while in the show it was Roman, while those from the FLDS were on the hitlist including Rulon Jeffs and the then Prophet Leroy Johnson none of them were harmed. Also the Allred/AUB group do have compound like communities in several states; the FLDS while they have opened the YFZ ranch now; when the series started they lived in towns that were mainly FLDS but were fully functional towns with stores, streets etc; the Juniper Creek compound in the show sounds from what I have read to be more like the communities/compounds of the AUB. Also while they have switched to a more FLDS style of dress and hair over the past couple of seasons; in the first couple of seasons most women on the compound dressed in a more modern albeit homemade style; with bangs cut in their hair (Wanda and Adaleen are the only surviving example of this) and dressing in skirts and various ensembles; this is more like the dress of the AUB/Allred group in the past (although nowadays many from this group wear pants and jeans). I think as the series has gone on and they are more confident; they have decided to portray the different groups as more closely modelled on a specific real life group; and they have also come out and started this whole Walker family thing which I believe is modelled on the Kingstons as well.

The actions of the LeBarons would make the Greens look like the three stooges. These guys were really bad.

I think the UEB is modeled after the UEP - the trust that ran short creek (aka juniper creek? ) lol It follows the story line of the state taking it over after the leaders arrest, etc. But who knows which parts were taken from which sects specifically ? ya know? anywho... kinda getting OT... sorry How about the guy found "in contempt" of the greens court? they made sure he wouldnt be "disrupting the proceedings" anymore LOL yeah, fictiona or real life - all friggin nut jobs!
