So, I guess that look Jodeen gave at the border to the other people had to do with The Greens. Did Jodeen get The Greens involved and was that the look she was giving the people at the border?
There was a woman at the Mexican Market obviously with the Greens.

I'm not sure Jodeen would want to do the greens any favors after their involvement in Kathy's death.
Someone mentioned in another thread that perhaps Lois and Frank decided to stop buying through the Greens and went directly to their source, so the green's stopped getting their cut.
Lois was talking a lot about having enough money to do anything etc. Perhaps that is why, because she was going to be paying a whole lot less for the birds and the turnover profit was going to be much higher not buying from the greens?

I would not think that Jodeen would want to help the Green because of Kathy. Jodeen seems to really dislike Frank. Maybe when Jodeen saw the people at the border she looked at them that way because she realized what was going on.

Exactly! Jodeen most likely had nothing to do with the abduction. Lois had mentioned that they would be "taking out the middle man" by contacting the Don Dona directly. The Greens were the middle men. As ruthless as the Greens are, I could imagine that they would be quite pissed that Lois decided to go straight to their source instead of doing her business with them.

Yup, and I just rewatched the episode and during the jumbo shrimp dance Lois sings "I'm cutting out the middle man and dancing with jumbo shrimp". So I think it is safe to say they cut the green's out which pissed them off.

plus why else would they go into mexico if not to go directly to the source? up until then they'd done their exchanges through the middle men (the greens) at the border

Honestly... Lois should have known better than to do it this way. She should have made arrangements to meet Dondonia at the border or a secure location and taken lots of weapons with her for protection. You have to know by cutting out the Green's they are going to find out and retaliate.

She should have did it in a way that wasn't so conspicuous (i.e. hire an unknown person to go to Mexico).

Not only that... Why would she take her grandson with her? It is one thing to put her and Frank's neck on the line... They are consenting adults...
But getting Benny involved was stupid. I know she loves him and just wants to spend some time with him. I just always took Lois to be a smarter cookie than this.

In the background when they had their first meeting with Don Dona, there was a woman who looked like one of the Greens - i.e., unattractive and scary - watching them. Since Lois and Frank weren't exactly whispering, she would have overheard them and realized they were there to cut the Greens out of the deal, and what time they planned to be back to get their birds.
However, I do think it's not coincidence that Jodean speaks Spanish. Suppose she comes from Mexico, knows all about the Greens' business, knows who the "bird kingpin" is, and dropped a word in Lois and Frank's ear, knowing full well that they would get greedy and wouldn't be able to resist trying to cut out the middleman. It may even be why she released the other birds.
Oh - does anybody understand Spanish? Don Dona said a lot more than "the birds will be here tomorrow - maybe." Maybe he said, "Make sure you don't come with them!"

To me this is Lois's problem time and again - she gets greedy and tries to push it too far. Remember her laundromat and her mopney in the peas? It is interesting that Jodean speaks Spanish and I too doubt that it is an accident. Regarding Don Dona, he was talking about a little problem - "problemito" - and making the point that they were not available that day. Have to admit he sure is creepy!
