Stephanie Brown was introduced into the story arc about the villain Keyman (Detective Comics # 647-649). Chuck Dixon created Stephanie as a temporary image of an auxiliary heroine who was supposed to spoil the criminal plans of his father. However, readers accepted the character well and the very next year Stephanie appeared in the first solo Robin series as a love interest for Tim Drake, who at that time was Robin.
