The focus of this weeks episode seemed to be on the effects of what had happened between Ben and Margene... Bill thorwing him out, margene being forgiven, Barb first trying to push it under the rug then finding the whole truth and basically exploding, Nicki being judegemental even though she had no idea about what (LOL that cracked me up)
and while all that is logical given ast episode, I also felt that the actual (potentia) plot line between Ben & Margene was dropped and instead of dealing with those feelings ... the writers are only going to deal with the aftermath of it.
did you get that impression?

I don't know if the writers dropped as much as that's what Margene's character wants to do. She wants to pretend that doesn't matter and sweep it under the rug.

I guess I knew that this was going to be a way of drawing a parallel between Bill and HIs father / suburban poly vs compound life; in Bill kicking Ben out. I just thought there would be more to it than that. I didn't think the "ben & margene" thing would be completely pushed aside to enable to the "Ben & Bill" story line.
I dont feel like there has been any resolution to the "cause" and yet they've left it alone to deal with the "effect" , ya know?

I agree! I wanted to see Margene tell Bill it was because Ben was there for her when he wasn't. But instead we saw the old Marge, melting down over the fact that the family unit was changing. Not the real reason she fell into Ben's arms.

It isn't over yet...Ben is with grandma Lois right now...And grandma Lois is PISSED at Bill...
This could prove to become VERY interesting indeed!
...Or could be dropped entirely lol!

Yes, I did get that same impression. I was also ticked off that Ben wouldn't even really talk to Margene in the one scene they had together. Instead, he basically slammed the door in her face. I think that showed Ben's immaturity as well.

I think the reason why they're not dealing with the feelings is because the characters don't want to. I think Margene wants to move on after this, Bill never deals with emotions just quick solutions, and Ben's dealing with a whole different issue now. While most people might want to actually try to solve the problem by looking at the issues and underlying feelings, we're dealing the Henricksons.

While most people might want to actually try to solve the problem by looking at the issues and underlying feelings, we're dealing the Henricksons. Exactly!!! Dealing with emotions is just not how the Henricksons get down!! Remember the issue with Sarah wanting to take care of the Indian baby while she was still grieving over her miscarriage? That is another example when the Henricksons sought out quick solutions rather than talking with Sarah to find out what was really going on. I don't think that Margene and Bill will really talk about the whole reason the kiss happened; at least not for a while. Bill never wants to deal with anything dicey; he doesn't have a knack for it. If I were to look at it from a developmental standpoint (I am a psychology grad student), I would say that neither Bill or Margie were fully emotionally developed as children. They still have familial issues from their own childhood and that is spilling over into their adult relationships.

Kambria, I work as a therapist and I think you are so right about Margie and Bill. Nicki as well. Barb, too, but maybe less so. And I would think that Barb would at least have some insight into all this, having gone to social work school.
I think that if this family were real and came to me, I would have years of work ahead of me.
The underlyling issues are never addressed....
