Hello from the UK Compound

Hello,

Well first let me say how nice it is to be on a board that you get an instant feel good about.

My name is Dave I’m 37 and from the UK, I live with my wife of 17 years and my three beautiful children aged 11, 3 and 6 months.

I have been a massive fan of Big Love ever since I stumbled on to the show, sadly it’s never been a big hit in the UK, and if I had not been flicking over the TV that night I would most defiantly not be posting here some 4 years after.

Fait I don’t know, but I caught the very start of Episode 1 Season 1 the first time it had been aired in the UK on a channel that I would never normally view, any way enough from me on that.

So I am hooked 100%, a bit of background on me:

I do not practise, follow, have bias to or dismiss any religion, this is the way I am, have always been and will I think always be, I draw my Strength from my family who I will add have freedom to choose any religion. My Wife is at church every weekend and my children in general are more than happy to attend.

I do not feel Polygamy to be wrong or right, I do find it most fascinating, I dedicate my life to my Wife and children, could I give this much of myself to another woman as well, I honestly think not.

I spent my mid teens in the military, until my earlier thirties, now I work the blue collar (Office Job).

So that’s me in a nutshell, please feel free to ask any questions you may have, I sure do intend to get involved in all things Big Love.

Such an unknown show in the UK, that after they released season 1 on DVD, it has not been possible to get season 2 or 3 on region 2 DVD, of course I have them from the States on region 1 now and I currently download season 4

my husband and I are also UK fans. I think to be honest channel 5 deliberately chopped and changed the schedule of the show in its first season as they didn't want to have any pressure to purchase future series of it from HBO; needing that budget to be free for 'House', 'Prison Break' et al. I missed the very first two episodes due to them being shown on a different day and time to the rest and then they started double billing the last 4 or even last 6 episodes. I heard the second series was shown on Virgin on demand as well but apparently the episodes were put on there out of their chronological order. I know quite a few big love fans for the first series but most just stopped watching when they realised it wasn't coming back on TV again. I do wonder if the subject matter was just a bit too 'American' for UK audiences but then again so many other American shows have topical material and cultural references that fly right over our heads in the UK; doesn't stop them from being popular. If channel 5 didn't buy the programme past season one because they thought its a new; unknown show that will die the death after 2 seasons anyway; I am sure they are kicking themselves now! I love the way the UK newspapers pretend Big Love just doesn't exist; they always have articles about Amanda Seyfried yet no mention of her main role being in Big Love...
