that wanted to go on a mission trip and see the world?
On several threads we've debated the good and the bad of Marge taking off on her mission trips. What if it had been Nikki who wanted to "meet people and help them?"
Like Margene, Nikki was married and had a child as a teenager. In fact, she was younger than Margene and the marriage was against her will. Like Margene, Nikki had inadequate parenting. Nikki never had the chance to go to school, never had a normal adolescence, never had a period of time as a young adult on her own.
If it had been Nikki who said, "I've learned there is a world out there and I want to know more about it. I want to help other people," would you have been as sympathetic and understanding toward her as you are toward Marge?
And for the sake of argument, let's assume that Nikki meant it sincerely, not just as a trick to get something else she wants.

Would Nicki actually ever do something honest and giving without some personal gain? But to answer you, Yes. Although I would wonder what the heck she had up her sleeve. But Barb and Margene are still the other mothers. Shoot, it might actually do her son's some good if she did leave.

Yeah, I think I would support it, because Nicki would surely grow as a person and possibly obtain virtues like tolerance and compassion. And Nicki's kids in Barb and Margie's hands is no more troublesome than Margie's kids in Nicki and Barb's hands, possibly even less so. If we are only talking about a 6 week mission , I'm willing to forgive Margie or Nicki this indulgence...after all having back-up moms is supposed to be one of the advantages of polygamy, and all of the wives have sacrificed alot to be in the family.
I agree in part that Margie's desire to go on mission is selfish, but these experiences could help her become a better person and mother in the long run.

Shoot, it might actually do her son's some good if she did leave. Amen! Remember the episode where she snatched him out of the Catholic school and he ran away? Poor Margene got slapped for praying to a catholic saint for help to find the boy and then she found him as soon as Nikki ran off screaming. The kids would be a lot less anxious and maybe when she came back she would have changed.
Of course the series would have had to do some serious character development for her to want to go on a mission. She was really the only character that didn't change. Well, except for Bill. He finally changed - too late.

This just made me think of something weirdly funny.....please forgive my twisted sense of humor.....If Nicki went on a "mission" of mercy, meant to help others in need, how soon before the director of the endeavor would ship Nicki back?? Just a humorous (I hope) thought..... LOL, that's assuming a lot, provided they would even let her board the ship Funny thought, betheaz.
