My sweetie's take on what the ladies should do

(The special was on HBO just now, he started this just as they were having a wives meeting and discussing duties)

He said that they should just be a family and forget about men. So I asked him what he thought about companionship and he said that they have each other. So I clarified that I meant sexual and masculine companionship. He said that he thought they should just have a bunch of one night stands, which surprised me because he thinks that kind of stuff is whorish and he thought Bill was a slut and the women were yucky for accepting it.


This boggled me because he has said that he thought they should leave Bill and do their own things like 100 times. Now he says that they should just stay like this and fuck around??

So like any good neurotic chicky, I pressed...What do you mean, I thought the whole thing bothered you?? I asked. His reply was something along the lines of "Yeah, but they all work together so well and they have all those kids that it makes sense, the only thing screwing it up was Bill, he was always out starting stupid stuff while they did the work" This still screwed with my head because well, I hadn't thought about the future for them as sexual and emotional women yet. One night stands are out of the question for Barb and Nicki for sure, maybe Margie.


This really got me thinkin. ...What do you think that they should do now? Will they remarry?? I'm SURE that Barb would never share a man again but Marge and Nikki would (even if it wasn't the same dude). How would they keep the family in order while gaining successful relationships with men?

I thought the ending was a little fairytale-ish. When the grief wears off and the human needs and expectations comes in, what do you think would happen with each of them?

I don't think that any of them remarrying would change much. They are still a family. Those 9 kids are all of theirs no matter what happens.

I can kinda see them eventually sort of sitting at their wive's meeting table, interviewing men they would all like to date... That could be interesting.

Agreed. I could see all three of them remarrying. It will take Barb a long time, but she will find the right man and enjoy someone who just appreciates her and is not so high maintenance. We've seen that Nikki can fall in love. Margene will meet a young single doctor on the cruise ship, or she will go see Ana and Goran and get sucked back into that deal.

Regardless of who they marry, their relationship will always be sisters, really close, close sisters. Love for life.

The writers seemed to think they might one day remarry, and it is possible, but I keep thinking about the marriage "for time and eternity" issue. They are sealed to Bill. If they wanted to be remarried it would have to be either just for "time" and not eternity or they would have to be unsealed.

I don't know what direction Bill's church went with this after his death. I know obviously they opened up to give women the priesthood, but what else? In "regular" LDS women can not be resealed to another man if their husband passes away or the relationship breaks down. Men can be sealed to as many women as they want. Ironically, even in modern day LDS, they do believe in polygamy still, it just won't occur until the afterlife.
