Still reeling over last night's episode. I feel like someone that I distantly knew died. It was a powerful ending and I know it will be even more so when I replay it. In fact, It left such an impact on me that I can't even play the other seasons right now. It's like I'm going through a "viewers" mourning time or something. LOL> In last night's episode, right before Bill went outside, he was sitting in his back yard and writing a letter on a (yellow note pad).. He spoke out loud the words of the letter... "I am a polygamist....."...Does anyone have any thoughts as to who he was writing that letter to?

I assumed he was writing his memoirs. Or journal writing which Mormons are very fond of.
I saw that and though it was a foreshadowing of his demise.

At first I thought that he was "journaling" too. And your right, it is common for Mormons to have daily journals. But, it didn't look like a journal to me. I'm sure it was just a moment that the writer's just put in there, but it would be neat if we could get some more unanswered questions in a supplemental DVD or something. There are so many ?'s I have about this episode and others.

I thought Bill felt inspired to write things down and grabbed some paper. According to Ben, "something" happened at church, like the Holy Spirit descended on them or something religious like that.
Or, could he have been writing out his confession statement for the next day or two when he knew he would be arrested? My husband thought that is what he was doing.

I was thinking back to the scene where he said he would admit to being a polygamist but not to rape. So, him saying "I am a polygamist" made me think he was writing it all out for them, would lean back and say, in that very Bill way, "here you go"
It really coulda been anything. I think the lesson there is that it's good to write things down because you never know...

He was just so overwhelmed at his vision at church and how it changed him that he needed to put his thoughts and feelings down on paper.

Maybe all of the above.
He just felt like writing and who, what and where it landed up wasn't important.

According to the creators duets is right... he was so overwhelmed he was taking notes of his revelation. The same thing he was discussing with Don and Ben.

I think this writing was crucial to giving Barbara the priesthood. Bill, Don, and Benny are the priests of the Frontier Church; he wouldn't have made such a major change without discussing with it them. Furthermore, without a written record the only proof of Barbara's ordination would have been Nicky's and Margene's word.
