Carl will surely go to the "clink" for murdering Bill.
Barb saw Carl walking away from Bill, when she came running out after hearing the 3 shots go off.

Or it could be another one of those murders that went unpunished. BTW, besides Alby did anyone serve any time in jail for the crimes that they committed? LOL

I guess it makes sense to assume Carl would be arrested, the way he did it was so out in the open and obvious. Any half-sane person would have to realize that walking up to their neighbor in broad daylight on Easter Sunday and shooting them would have to carry with it some serious consequences. That is why I think Carl will NOT be arrested. I get the feeling that, at that point in Carl's existence, there is no room left for rational thought. There is no sanity left, the cheese has slid off the cracker! He has suffered the loss of his job, his standing in his community, his relationship with his wife, and even his status in the church that has been so dear to him his entire life. He simply doesn't have a reason to allow himself to be imprisoned for the rest of his life, as far as he's concerned his life is already over and has been for some time. He's just been waiting for the right time, like a sign, you know? That new sod on the lawn was the straw that broke the camel's back. He's not going to prison, because after he shot Bill and walked away, he went inside his house and used that gun one last time. Of course, that's just my take! Anyone else?

Carl had to be suicidal after that ...

Carl committing suicide is rational. Pam had eluded to Marge that he had attempted before with the two car wrecks.

Yeah, I'm really feeling bad for Pam the more I think about it.

If Carl doesn't commit suicide, what are the chances he'll get Alby as a cell-mate in prison? [real answer: 0.00%]
Hindsight being 20/20, this was a well written ending. The writers developed this storyline on the edges, as everyone's attention was drawn to the more visible issues. When I saw Carl approach Bill (with 5 minutes left in the show), my heart sank because I new what was coming. It reminded about the end of the Sopranos (yes, Tony dies AND Janice had him killed, but that's for another discussion board...). Others here have already mentioned the tie-in with oranges and the Godfather. Also didn't Ginnifer Goodwin mention the ending would assure there would be no more seasons?
