That was a nice touch. An achingly beautiful song by Brian Wilson.

I really didn't care for her rendition. Then again, don't care for her at all and love the Beach Boys. Still, wish it would have ended with the original beginning.
Also thought it would have been great to end with the final scene with all of them on their planet, like in the original opening.

I was hoping they would end with the original theme song and they did!! It added to the "tear-jerkiness".

Who sang it at the end of the show?

Who sang it at the end of the show? Natalie Maines. I like her version a lot better than the original Beach Boys, and I like them just fine. Hers brought tears to my eyes, though. And with the way the show ended, appropriate that it was sung by a female voice.

I really, really thought the ending would be them all sitting at the table together eating. Even though we wouldn't have all of the loose ends tied up we'd know they were together. Instead we have the wives embracing and "Bill" (spirit I guess) watching over them. I think it means they all stay together in one way or another forever. But I have to tell you it was certainly not what I expected. There is still so much story to tell.......

Bill's story is finished, though, except to watch over his family as a spirit , which they showed.

Well, I guess God only knows what they will be without Bill. We won't know, except what we make up in our own minds.
I really wonder if the writers knew from the beginning that Bill would die at the end. They said they toyed around with an ending where Barb has a recurrence of cancer, etc, but the only ending that really felt right was Bill's death. Still, you have to wonder since they chose that song from the beginning. What would I be without you?

It had to be sung by a woman instead of a man for this finale. That was the difference; the transition from Bill's great expectations into the wives reality.

withay---trolls. That's all I have to say. Ugh. Wouldn't that be nice. No, I'm just kidding. (as usual) Some of your posts have been interesting. Lucky for you the series is over and I'll soon be gone and forgotten.
