I'm suprised she didn't change it long ago. The story on why she changed it is kind of funny, she tells it in almost every interview I've seen her give.

Sure I'll share but it sounds so much better when it's coming out of her mouth.
When she left home to go to acting school in Boston her acting coaches said they were going to beat her accent out of her. She's from Tenessee originally so had a rather strong southern accent. Like she'd say 'limon' instead of 'lemons' and you write with a 'pin' not a 'pen'. And then it came to her name and they're like "your name is Jeniffer not Ginnifer" and she wouldn't have a bar of it because it was her name she'd always been Ginny not Jenny. She phoned home to her mom and asked her what it was all about and her mom told "No, it's deffinatly Ginnifer" So she went and changed the way it was spelt so the acting coaches would let her pronounce it how she wanted it said.
Like I said it sounds so much better when she tells it. If you want to see look up some of her interviews on You Tube she tells the story is everyone I've seen her give, which is about 4 different interviews.

I'm a TN gal too. Yep, that accent is hard to shed, LOL. I've been away from there for some 20yrs & still have it. Oh another one is "Restaurant" is pronounced "rester-awnt", LOL. The acting coaches in Hollywood are the same way, when we lived in Pasadena, I attended an acting academy for a few yrs. I went to a vocal coach, it didn't work, DH ask if it was a money back guarantee, I was only in it for the fun & experience of it.

I'm just thinking that Margene would have been super cute with a little twang.

So she is changing it to Ginnifer not Gennifer. It's the "i" more than the "G" that is causing the problem.

I've never heard that before...very cute story on how she got her unusual name. I kinda like it...even though I have a heavy heavy NY Brooklyn accent so it's all the same to me. In fact, if I say GINnifer, it sounds really really odd. ;D

My boyfriend has a really strong BK accent too.... he doesn't say "Ginnifer" He tries really hard and it still comes out "Gennifuh" haha My name is Djamilla and when he says my name it comes out "djamelluh" =p

I noticed one interesting thing that prostitutes are interesting girls instead of usual chics. I don’t know why but this is so true. They are so good in sex.
