Hey guys! I'm asking for a bit of assistance from the compound!
During the last week of February, I'm going to be a leader for a group of volunteers from Canada in New Orleans. We're going to be driving down, which means we'll be passing through a bunch of awesome states. However, I don't want our group to just be "passing by," but to be learning a bit about each state as we go.
Which is where you guys comes in! It's really easy for me to just do a quick google search and pick up basic information like what the state flower is and its population, but I want this to be more personal and fun. So, I was wondering if you guys could tell me something interesting about any of the following states. It could even just be the name of a really cool restaurant, and something that makes the state unique to you.
We'll be traveling through: Michigan Ohio Indiana Kentucky Tennessee Mississippi Alabama Louisiana
Thanks guys!

Tennessee and Kentucky have, IMO, some of the most beautiful mountain areas that can be seen from the interstate. I assume that you will be coming down I-75?. At the corner where Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia come together is a place called Lookout Mtn (in Chattanooga) where you can see several states (I think it is 4 or 5). If you have time, Ruby Falls is in the same area. You take an elevator DOWN several stories and there is a waterfall inside the mountain and lots of other neat things to see. Have fun and wave and holler towards Georgia when you go through Alabama.

Kentucky, I've been there many times as a child. There are 'dish barns' along the roads, bargains & great finds galore, if you're into dishes & such, I luv them. Also called the Bluegrass State If ya stop to eat you gotta eat @ none other than Kentucky Fried Chicken, KFC Corporation, based in Louisville, Ky., is the world's most popular chicken restaurant chain. As you're driving thru, you can sing 'My Old Kentucky Home', look it up on playlist.com to hear the tune, etc. "Kentucky prides itself on producing some of the nation's best tobacco, horses, and whiskey. Corn, soybeans, wheat, fruit, hogs, cattle, and dairy products are among the agricultural items produced. "Louisville is famous for the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, and the Bluegrass country around Lexington is the home of some of the world's finest race horses. Other attractions are Mammoth Cave, the George S. Patton, Jr., Military Museum at Fort Knox, and Old Fort Harrod State Park." Mississippi, I lived in Pass Christian for about a year or so prior to moving west. Hubby lived there for many years. On the gulf coast, is/well it was once a very tranquil, pretty place. Mardi-gras is huge there. Cajun cookin & poor-boys [pronounced po-boys] the "r" is silent. Well know for the Seafood Menu being endless, of course now that the oil spill, Katrina etc; there's alot of work to make it whole again.
I luv the trees there, with gray moss hanging from the branches.
Home to BB King, musician & Brent Farve, NFL football player.

Louisianna: Aaron Neville wasn't kidding when he sang the song "They're tryin' to wash us away". Hubby used to work on the docks there, with Aaron (many years ago, before he became so famous for his music). Aaron used to sing as he worked on the docks & the other employees just luved it!!!!
