I think HBO should make a Big Love movie... What do you all think?

I would only think a Big Love movie would be needed if they were unable to bring the plots to a reasonable closing place. Since they know that this is the last season, a movie should not be needed.

I would even enjoy a movie about The Henricksons starting with Barb finding out she's sick - before Nikki ever shows up - I would like to see Nikki at The Creek before she's involved with Barb & Bill. I would like to see Bill meeting Margene.

I would like to see Bill meeting Margene. Now that might be an interesting plot! And maybe they could do a postscript...say 20 years down the road to show how the family ended up. I have always liked the show endings when they did that.

Why is this the final season? Is it because the actors want to move on? A Big Love movie would be so good!

Unlike network TV, HBO seems to stop filming shows before they get bad. Last season was not considered as good as the others so they probably decided to stop before things got really bad.

I think a Big Love movie to follow is a good idea if it is done well. A greater understanding of exactly what was going on when Barb was diagnosed and the personal steps taken that brought us to the point where our Big Love first began would be satisfying, again, if done well. After we have seen this last season's last episode we may be left with a hunger to know what comes next, especially if all our main characters are still in place within the family. I have a hunch, however, that Bill and Barb are divorcing and Bill marrying Nikki with Bill thinking it is only a piece of paper, or rather a couple of pieces of paper while it will be a true divorce to Barb and Bill will lose her completely. I have done a bit of research into the RLDS (now called Community of Christ) which started as Reformed Church of Jesus of the Latter Day Saints, and they honor both men and women as priesthood holders, only caring if they are honoring the teachings of their church. How civilized. I think that may be the spiritual avenue Barb will pursue. Further, if Barb is out and Nikki is first wife by default, I am pretty sure Marg will split because Nikki has always treated her with such vile disdain, belittling, evil statements during the entire Big Love series that to stay with only Nikki would be madness. And Margene once said that she did not think she could remain married to Nicki and Bill without Barb. And that was even before Margene became more independent!

I think a movie would be a good idea as previous posters have said about Barb's marriage & how her marriage was affected by her illness and change to polygamy. Also, I would like to see how Bill grew up @ the compound & how he escaped & became successful in the outside world.

IMO movies based on television show prequels tend to not turn out well. There's no dramatic tension there, no mystery.
I'm pretty sure there will still be room for a movie if the cast wants it, no matter how neatly the plotlines are tied up this season. Even if Bill dies, a movie based on the wives' lives post-Bill would be interesting.

IMO movies based on television show prequels tend to not turn out well. There's no dramatic tension there, no mystery.... There have been several successful movies based on television shows. Let us not forget the following: (off the top of my head) Mission Impossible The Addams Family Batman Charlie's Angels The Untouchables The Brady Bunch Police Squad! (Naked Gun movies) And the granddaddy of them all: Star Trek: Holy smokes, this show was cancelled in its 3rd season, and look at the franchise today! Who woulda thunk... Can you imagine Big Love becoming as huge a franchise as Star Trek? In the right hands, it could!

There should absolutely be a BL movie. Ben should continue his father's traditions, because even though his mother is now a priesthood holder, she was given the priviledge by a dying man and maybe it was given because he realized he was near death and it was needed immediately. Women should still be allowed to hold the priesthood, but Ben should lead the church eventually and uphold the principle. This is what his father died for.
