Do you think the board should be moderated ? and if so, to what extent?

I think any board should be moderated a little bit...
What I would do is let people speak their minds BUT if they start viciously attacking each other...Edit those posts out.
There is a difference between a heated debate and just totally attacking someone.

I really dont know that moderating will even become an issue untill more people find their way here. (if they do; HBO removed my links)
I agree with what you guys said though. i actually used to be an admin. / mod on a message board that sony set up for Aerosmith after the release of their "Just push Play" album back in 2002 or so. Did that for a few years untill the boards were taken down and replaced. So I do have a little background to go on.
My general thoughts on the subject though, is that a moderator should not be a censor. So basically the only time I would ever step in is if someone is personally attacking another rather than the idea / opinion of another. (The difference becomes pretty clear when it happens)

I agree. No personal attacks. No name-calling.

Hi
I think it should be moderated but not PRE-moderated; let people have their say and if they break the rules then they should be warned and then out.

Agree sophie. I dont think a mod should be a censor, just a welcome comittee and tour guide to new users (so to speak). Blatant rudeness, and attmpts to disrupt the board (just for the sake of chaos) are my exceptions.

It can get very interesting when things get heated; however, it's pretty clear to everyone when things are out of hand. And certainly no pre-moderation. Usually, when people start posting comments like "it's time to end this thread" that the line has been crossed and a moderator needs to step in.
The old forum worked pretty well.

I have moderated boards in the past that , usually due to a handful of users, made me feel like a babysitter. lol It was rediculous. That hasnt at all been the case here - we have a great bunch of intelligent, insightful, opinionated yet respectful people. So while i keep my eyes open for potential "bad apples" lol I dont feel like i'm working when i come here... just chatting with fans & friends - which is really what i was hoping for
