If you haven't watch the "Inside the Episode" on the HBO site, do. The writers describe the final scene with Sarah carrying the cake and looking out the window at the family. "It's like someone standing on the dock watching the Titanic leave. You love these people but you just can't be with them."
WOW! Is that a foreshadowing that the Hendrickson ship will go down?
Puts a point on the new opening. In the old opening, we saw them come together and then scatter when the ice cracked. In the new opening they're falling apart, literally, and Bill doesn't reach anyone. Is that how the show will end?

I cannot access the HBO boards at all. Nothing. I get a black screen. It is so annoying. Even though their boards suck, I'd like to read the BIg Love stuff.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised. If you consider the whole trajectory of the show, you realize that in the beginning polygamy, as it was practiced by the Hendricksons seemed somewhat benign and only concerned those four consenting adults, but the closer you get to now, the more you realize how much it simulates Juniper Creek and all it's glaring negatives become obvious. There is a real progression there.

Marigold,
The "Inside the Episode" video is not accessed through the discussion board. You can reach it from the Big Love home page, if you can see that.

Missym - that is true.
As much as Bill likes to think his life is so different from Juniper Creek, he is wrong. He is just like the men there. He just tries to coat it with a lot of sugar.

it is kind of like watching something fall apart...the entire "family" is coming apart at the seams (including Hollis' arm) I'm hoping that they can gather some of the loose threads and at least give us some answers...

Maybe when joey is done sewing Hollis's arm on in Mexico he can smuggle some of that magic string across the border and sew them all back together again. lol seriously, the henrickson's are like humpty dumpty to me at this point - no putting it back together again, at least not to what they all thought it was.

I think it's interesting that they used that comparison considering Bill Paxton played the role of the undersea explorer in James Cameron's "Titanic". I wonder if that quote was said to remind us all that Bill is (or was) a sort of "big guy" in Hollywood. Higgest grossing film of all time until James C. unthroned himself with Avatar!!! I'm not sure if the TITANIC analogy had to do with reminding us of Bill Paxton's success. One would have to be a complete hermit to not realize what a top notch actor he is. I mean he has been famous for decades. I loved him in Alien 2 I think it was, one of the alien movies anyway lol.. He was such a dipshit in that movie but it was hilarious. Then he got eaten.

Showing my age here, but the first movie I saw Bill Paxton in was "Weird Science". He was a dipshit in that too.
