LMFAO good point ladykc!
When I saw the look on Bill's face when Nikki realized there were no bottoms to her lingerie the only thing that came to mind was "dirty old man" lol!
You are right, he seems to use Heavenly Father as a window dressing to act out any fantasy he has.

Another thing that drives me crazy w/Bill. One minute he's ready to shout from the roof-top that he's a polygamist for the sake of saving the Principle; and then the next minute, he wants to keep the secret for a few more weeks/mos. It seems that he can't make up his mind. Or it's whatever works for the moment as to his undecided multiple plan(s)!
I think it's boiling down to Bill needs to pick a team & stick to it, lol. Once the cat is out of the bag, he's in it for the long haul, imo. There's no turning back, what would that do for Bill's Principle. [retorical]

LMFAO! Bill's principle is suiting!
Bill's principle does seem to change to suit his needs whenever he wants.

Bill - since season 2 and especially since the casino and Anna, all we've seen is a totally selfish, arrogant Bill and a bore to boot! I no longer think of him as an awesome husband and he was never an awesome parent. Bill and his principle have gotten stale for me.

I think it is pretty clear that Bill is completely out of touch with ALL of his wives (an his children too!). He wasn't even aware about what was going on with Sarah for the longest. And he seems to be completely neglecting Ben! Bill is so focused on being a business man and forcing himself onto the Senate that he has forgotten to be HUSBAND and FATHER! It is a good thing there are so many things going on this season to distract his wives...but it looks like they are all going to realize what a lousy husband he has been really soon! My guess would be that this has something to do with his upbringing. In the past, and still in conservative groups, the husband and father is first and foremost, the breadwinner. To excel at those roles was to make sure that your children and wife aren't lacking in anything financially. After that, it's the wifes job to know what's going on in the children's lives and report to the father anything that would need/deserve praise from the father, or anything that would require disciplinary action from him. So the fact that Bill didn't know what was going on in Sarah's life would in fact be Barb's fault for not informing him. I believe someone once described the husband's role in the family to me as "supervisor". He is to supervise what his wife is doing, but doesn't need to know all of the little details. Of course, if you believe that fathers and husbands need to have more of an active role in the family dynamics and not just the family's finances, then you'd see Bill as being incredibly selfish, and even delusional in thinking that bringing in the dough is all that is needed of a father/husband. And I think that Bill definitely does justify his actions based on his beliefs, and I don't think he's even aware that that's what he's doing! If you believe that God will send you "revelations" telling you to do things, then that pretty much means that anything you want to do that comes to mind, you can do it! I'm sure there will be some people of the Mormon faith that will say it doesn't work that way (including Don who told Bill how you can tell if it's a revelation or not), but because it's not something that others can really disprove as not being from God, you're open to do whatever you want as long as it doesn't blatantly go against God's word in other places (and even then, there's cases of people doing this). It's not like God prints off a list every week of the revelations he's given people! (Sorry for the long post, sometimes I get a bit wordy, but I really wanted to comment on both things that were brought up)

What I think is going to be interesting, is seeing how Bill handles this Ben/Margene kiss situation...
I wonder how much of Frank we are going to see through Bill when it is all said and done with?
Bill has always been the understanding guy who recognizes the older men not wanting competition with the younger ladies and that being the reason so many young boys get run off...Will he run Ben off?
Honestly though...What do you expect when your son is almost as old as your youngest wife. LOL!

I think he's very human which is why I can't dislike him even when he behaves like an arse.
He's a man with goals, aspirations, responsibilities (some of which were thrust on him early in life), and convictions. He's constantly trying to balance the ideals he believes in with the basics of family. For someone who was primed to be prophet from a young age, and forced to grow up so early, moving forwards, taking risks, and sticking up for himself are second nature, so its not really surprising that he would run for senate or open a new business.
I do think that he has been neglecting his family, particularly his children, quite a bit. I don't think its malicious, I just think that he was raised in a place where fathers worked and mothers raised the family. And I mean with that many kids and three houses, he certainly has a lot of financial issues to be met.

You know, after tonight's episode, I don't think there can be any debate on the fact that Bill is a selfish... well to put it like Barb would... Sugar Head.
There is no way he is getting away with this State Senate thing. He threw his best friend to the wolves and he still isn't secure. So Don went down for nothing. He is letting his son walk away because he fears he can't satisfy his baby wife. Having Ben move out, doesn't solve the problem.
I hate to agree with Frank on any topic, but I likewise make a grunt of disgust. Bill is a hypocrite and he does belong in Juniper Creek.
I am not complaining, I am now interested in Bill's character again. His downfall will be a wild ride.

Okay, I have been reading for a while but just registered! I have to say that I am really upset with Bill right now. I think he is pushing niki to have another child and she is clearly trying to avoid that and I never think he gave it a thought to ask her WHY...WIth a care in his heart.
I am upset with how he is kicking his son out because of the marge thing but you know it goes along with the story of how things are done in these families....according to bill....When he is pretending not to be one of his own.
I think he uses his religon as an excuse to have mulitple wives and Date when he feels like it.
ANd I think he HAD you know what to ask Dale to take the fall and I felt so bad that dale did it. And making marge wear as elephant suit.... I would cheat too....

Hey there newbies...Welcome to the board!
I am in complete agreement about Bill.
I suspected he'd want to run Benny off and that is exactly what he did...So he is a hypocrite to the fullest degree!
It was okay when he thought Ben just had a crush....But after he found out that Margene had feelings for Ben it was a different story. Then he felt threatened!

Wow, was over at the HBO forums & they are so not user friendly, so stumbled onto this board. It's nice to find another forum. Anyway, I was really surprised that Bill sent Ben packing...he's no better than his own father. I see Bill now in a totally diff. way, I thought he was flawed (like all of us) but still generally ok. Not after this. He is no better than Frank now. He dealt Don a bad hand too.

Welcome Kimbie! Glad you made it home! I agree about Bill... The thing with Don just totally shocked me. That was HUGE for Don to agree to! I just am in shock that he did and poor Peg...What the heck she must be going through after Vernie and Jo Jo leave...Take the kids...Now this? All for Bill? UGH! Same thing with Benny. Poor kid handled the situation perfectly. He could have had margene right then and there...He could have fucked her brains out! But he didn't. He got the cocoa mix for her and walked away.
