I'm just wondering what your general thoughts are on Bill ? In the begining I just viewed him as sort of doing his best to do his best by everyone. As the show & characters have evolved though I have grown to feel differently about him. My initial feeling was that he was trying to be true to his beleifs, and basicaly jst trying to find his way. Somewhere along the line though I think he started using his beleifs as a way to excuse his disregard for others & to justify following his every desire. I dont hate bill. I just think he's completely lost, and scared to slow his pace... so he just keeps upping it. what do you guys think? how do you feel about Bill? Attachments:

I feel exactly the same way you do. I think last season with Anna, and now this season especially it has become apparant that Bill uses his religion to justify anything he wants to do. All he has to do is slap the word "testimony" or "revelation" on whatever it is he is doing, and in his mind it makes it alright.

I had another thought too...
Remember last eppy when Bill was talking with Don about running for senate?
Don said to Bill "You know a testimony is true by the peace it gives you inside...Do you feel that peace Bill?" Bill said "NO"...
Then he goes home and says they're DEFINITELY running?
That could be read two ways...One way...That Bill truly disregards anything that doesn't go along with what HE wants to do..(most likely the scenario here)...OR...He felt inner peace after deciding to run a different way.
Both in my opinion are self serving though and I can't wait for Bill to fall flat on his face.

At this point i think it's gonna take him fallling flat on his face to bring him back to some sense of reality. So I welcome it. The unfortunate part, from my point of view, is that his wives will fall as well.

I liked Bill before but now, he's all over the place and that's making it hard for me to continue liking him. Blinded by power, I think he's selfish and his "compound ways" are coming out, esp. in regard to his wives. What is he thinking about, senate, the casino, Home Plus, the compound, 3 wives, eight children. That dude needs to slow it down a bit.

I was shocked the way last night's episode went though...Showing him pray to "heavenly father" and then everything started going his way with the whole senate deal.
Are the writers really going to let this go his way? That will be so far fetched!

Are the writers really going to let this go his way? That will be so far fetched! I think it's only temporary. With all the stuff going on @ home while he & Niki are in Wash. He's walking into a hurricaine at home. * Margene kissing Ben, Ben's feelings for Margene, Barb practically running over the Indian girl, & Sarah having this girl in her own home to help her out. Jerry's son telling them to both stay out of it. The social classes Barb gave & the response from the tribe/girl in the casino. Bill still doesn't know about Alby & his friend the att. siding w/each other on prospects of the UEB $$. Joey???, and to top it all off, Teeny just got home from camp. Whhooee, did I leave anything out, LOL. Oh, yeah, & Niki's still trying to come to terms with the new bottomless lingerie!!!

Oh, yeah, & Niki's still trying to come to terms with the new bottomless lingerie!!! This made me laugh so hard! I think Bill has always been a self-serving, egotistical ass that tries to outsmart his basic beliefs, and tries to elicit response from people, even if it's bad response. But I think (and hope) that this season he has a true revelation and steps back to what is and should be the most important things to him.

I think he's twisting things to whatever interpretation serves him best. The whole "prayer" at the benefit / fundraiser for a breif moment got my hopes up... that he'd see the light. Unfortunately, it just added fuel to the fire.
I hope that like someone else said, this is temprorary. I dont want to dislike bill... but right now I do.

I disliked the look Bill gave Nikki when she realized there were no bottoms to the lingerie.
He is such a man first off...Nikki is already sensitive about him needing viagra to have sex with her and then instead of giving her a gift she would really enjoy, he gives her lingerie that is tacky at best...
UGH! I would have told him I want to see him wear the bottomless teddy instead. See how he felt.

That look Bill gave her to me just screamed " clueless" .... he has no idea who she is, the changes she's experiencing in herself, and has no idea why she wont just be who he wants her to.
we definitely need some more dialogue between them.

I think it is pretty clear that Bill is completely out of touch with ALL of his wives (an his children too!). He wasn't even aware about what was going on with Sarah for the longest. And he seems to be completely neglecting Ben! Bill is so focused on being a business man and forcing himself onto the Senate that he has forgotten to be HUSBAND and FATHER! It is a good thing there are so many things going on this season to distract his wives...but it looks like they are all going to realize what a lousy husband he has been really soon!
P.S. I wonder if he is going to find out about the kiss btw Margie and Ben, and if so, what he plans to do about it. That should be interesting to watch!

kambria, Hi, if Margene doesn't come clean w/Bill on this one then Barb for sure will do the introduction.

I think the next time we show Bill and Nikki having sex...We should see Nikki with a look of sheer delight on her face screaming "OH RAY!" mwahahahaha! Maybe THAT will clue Bill in a bit?
As far as Margene and Ben's kiss...We know that Barb finds out about it somehow because in the previews Barb says something like "You kissed Ben on the mouth?" and Margie says "It was just an accident".
I cannot believe that Barb won't tell Bill.

I think that Bill's lingerie gift was an attempt to try to show Nicki that he did find her desirable...I mean, if he wasn't attracted to her, why would he want her in see-through lingerie?
I agree it was botched, though. He should have thought more about her upbringing and how she'd react to a gift like that.
Bill's very grandiose...not surprising in a religion where men are essentially gods in their families. So he can't see his crazy ideas as just crazy ideas, instead they are testimonies from Heavenly Father. I mean, think about how nutty you'd be if you acted on ever kooky idea you ever had because you thought it was a revelation from God?
