RE: Off Topic Posts - ok? / annoying?

I am as guilty as anyone (maybe more so even lol) of jumping off topic within a thread. It's not hard to do... one thought leads to another and the next thing you know a thread titled " where can i get margenes sweater?" is full of posts about what an A**hole Bill is LOL

That said, I know some forums are pretty strict about this kind of thing - to a fault IMO, but I also realize that OT posts can be quite annoying to some people. (maybe those who actually wanted to know where they could find margenes sweater, lol)
So I thought I would ask where you stand on this issue & handle it accordingly.

If someone gets too far off topic, it does not bother me if it is pointed out, as long as it is done politely. I am guilty of doing it myself. What really bothers me more is more posts asking where to find Margene's sweater when it has been asked on several threads already. Usually because someone wants to start a thread. After the last Dexter this season, there must have been 20 posts wanting to discuss whether Rita "really" died!!!

"Off-topicness" doesn't bother me. New threads created on things that can be addressed in already existing threads is annoying.

When you see this - anyone - feel free to redirect the person to an existing thread or llike discussion. I dont see that as rude, as long as you're not rude about it. And sometimes (especially with new users) they just arent aware it's aready being discussed somewhere else.

I am probably most guilty of typing things in the wrong places. Please forgive me. I'm old (66 is old, isn't it?), I get confused easily, and I have a really hard time navigating around message boards. <sigh> But I love to read all I can. Just now I happened upon this area of the message boards...never opened them before! See what I mean??? If I say something in the wrong place, just say to yourself, "oh no, it's Frazzz again!" and just move my remarks to where they belong...please! Frazzz is short for FrazzzleDazzzle...and as you can see, there are THREE Z's in both Frazzzle AND Dazzzle...should show you just how frazzled I really am!
