Brava to the creator and administrators of this message board! It's so much better, and more fun, than the HBO board, which I just checked. The traffic there has really fallen away. Most likely, Big Love fans all found their way here. Thanks again.

A couple of points...

I have trouble reading the outline text for the Login, Profile, buttons, etc. Can the font be changed for us over-50s?

Also, I can't access this board from my Vista laptop, only from my XP desktop. Can this be looked into? Maybe the board providers have a trick for Vista owners? It may be why one or two folks from the HBO boards haven't shown up here yet.

Speaking of the HBO boards, I went there today, and it seems they don't have any plans for major changes - just loosening up some of the "rules." Until they let us read the post we're responding to, I won't be back there.

As to the vista thing... I'll look into that too, but to be honest without doing so i have no idea why this board wouldnt be accesible for vista users.

I ithought the HBO boards were getting user feedback and making changes based on that?

Just a quick update on the above post -

The outline text , unfortunately, is part of the icon for each function. IOW's each menu / message icon you see here with text ( "reply, quote, modify" etc) is an image (text being part of that image). So there is no way to modify just the text part of those icons. I would have to replace all the icons on the board with new ones - Which i dont have any problem doing if someone can recommend a website with free premade / customizable icons ?

It's just not as quick a fix as I thought. sorry

Likewise, if anyone here is into web design and would like to take a crack at making some icons, a new skin, etc for the boards I'd be on board Just PM me .

Just a note on the vista...

Both my laptop and desktop run vista and I am able to access the site just fine. Perhaps it is another problem.

Marionj... What happens when you try and access the site through your laptop with vista?

JJ77 I used to know some sites with some free premade buttons and stuff, I'll do a search and see what I can find. I also know there are some offering free premade skins too.

I have no idea if this would play a part, but i did notice that some of the links to this site over on the hbo boards were to specific pages, etc.
Maybe a page no longer available was saved as a direct link? (I've done that before)

I felt the same way when I stumbled across the link to this site. When the new HBO site came up I was literally heartbroken... I had no idea who was who, where all the good topics were...Frustrated with how the site worked and I was just plain bummed out.

Thank you for taking the time to create a great board to discuss Big Love. I have never been able to participate in a board discussion group because I am not that too computer savvy. Also, I have always been nevervous about accidently offending other posters. I will never intentionally offend anyone and if I do so on this board I will write a letter of apology. Being rude intentioanl or on purpose brings down morale.

The two of you have created a site that is easy to use. All of the posters are great. i enjoy reading their ideas, comments, and speculations about the show. There is a wonderul vibe here at biglovecompound and the two of you have created this.

Thank you for letting be a poster on your board. I have fun interacting with all of the other posters.

If you do not mind me asking, what do the two of you do? Do you work with computers? I find both of you very interesting and would love to hear the story of how biglovecompound came to be. You are obviously two very talented people that can keep a message board uplifting.

Thank you again. You hard work is greatly appreciated. I am thankful that to the both of you for being able to post on this board. I want to add positive feedback and discussion to the board. I want to let other posters know what I have found out about Big Love. As I noted I am not computer savvy. If you ever have suggestions for me on how to be a better board member please let me know. Well I can't take any credit for the creation of this board... I came after the fact and became a moderator. I found the board through the HBO site like most people here.

JJ77 is solely responsible for this cool place we can all now call home. She has done a wonderful job with the board. I couldn't be more pleased to be a mod here.

As far as what I do, I work from home and yes it has to do with computers. I also homeschool my son and I am 6 months pregnant so I'm pretty much able to pop in and out of the forum throughout the day.

Basically, I had just started visiting the hbo boards shortly before they changed them. I was really excited about having a place to discuss the show after reading several pages of posts over there . When the site went back up and the "new improved" version was unveiled... I absolutely hated it. I tried to find another big love message board / community and was coming up with zilch - at least zero that were active. So I went back to give HBO' site another try and noticed a LOT of other hated the "improved" site as well.

So I spent (initially) about 15 minutes or so and set up this board. It's pre-made basic template for the most part, but after HBO's site I was yearning for "simple" so it worked.

I posted links over there and they were removed for the first week or so. Only about 8 ppl found their way here (BLR was one who did immediately).... until the next week when (right after the episode aired) many of those 8 ppl bombarded the hbo boards with the link to this board . lol It just kinda rolled form there. So , as I've said, it's the users who made it and who keep it going. I'm just glad to have a place to discuss now

I own / manage a painting and remodeling company - specializing in interior painting. We do everything from color consultations and straight paints to faux finishes and custom wood packages. Some days I work from home - playing catch up in the office, most days I'm on site.
So my schedule is not exactly 9-5 & I could technically fall under every title from "proprietor" to "painter" to "production manager" lol

I've dipped my toe in just about every job pool you could imagine though - from hospitality to business admin .... but never anything that focused on technology / computers specifically.
