If you have questions about how to use the board (or any of its features) or about the boards in general - This is the place to ask.
A couple I have run across thus far -
"HOW TO QUOTE?" on the reply page, above the box where you enter your text, there are several tabs. The tab / box/ button that shows a white peice of paper and blue arrow is the quote function. cut and copy the text you would like to quote and while it is higlighted (or selected) click the "quote" button.
alternatey, you can always use the code : (without spaces) [ quote ] enter text here [ / quote ]
"HOW TO EDIT ?"
on proboards the "edit" feature is called "modify" and should be next to the subject line of your orignal post. clicking it will take you to your post in the text box, and you can edit from there.

Would someone please explain the significance of stars by a user's name, and what are Karma numbers?

Would someone please explain the significance of stars by a user's name, and what are Karma numbers? Sure thing! The stars indicate your rank...Your rank is determined by the number of posts you have. The more posts you make, the higher your rank goes. The karma thing is something you can give to any other member of the board...You can give them points by clicking on EXALT under their name...Or if you want to take away karma you can click on SMITE under their name.

How do I get the cute smiley face or puppy under my username on the left side?
Is there a way to only see the new posts in threads?

At the top of your page click on PROFILE then MODIFY PROFILE and you can select an avatar from some of the choices they have, as well as add or remove personal information, website links, signatures, etc. As far as seeing only new posts...I'm not totally sure on that one... I'll ask JJ77 and see if she knows, and get back to you on that.

Is there a way to set user preferences so the most recent posts within a thread are at the top?
This board is SO much better (and more fun) than the HBO one, I hate to complain, but it's a bit of a hassle to jump to pages 2 and 3 when a thread gets really active.

Rissmeek I am still awaiting a response to your question from the admin...
Nickifan... I am pretty sure the admin can change the settings to reverse the post order...But I don't think we as users can do it.

Rissmeek - Saw your question - asking if there was a way to only view the new posts in a thread. As far as I know there is not. The only thing close that proboards facilitates is the "new" icon that shows up on threads that have been posted to since your last visit when you log back in. As far as just seeing new posts within a thread though - they dont have a way to do that that I can find / am aware of. sorry

Nickifan -
Unfortunately the order of posts within a thread cannot be changed on an individual basis; proboards just doesnt have that option. The only way the order of the posts within a thread can be changed (from ascending to descending) is if I change that propoerty for the entire message board ; IOW's for all users. I think that might make it a little confusing at this point, but would be willing to do so if the majority of our members would rather see it that way. Sorry I couldnt be more help. It's just not a feature proboards has for user preferences .

JJ77... THE LATEST POSTS can be retrieved from the home page. Down at the bottom, under FORUM STATISTICS, click on "veiw the 10 most recent posts of this forum." I don't know if the number of posts (10) can be changed.
Can you imagine ME finding this little tidbit of information??? I, who can't find my way around the boards without getting all "frazzzled!" LOL But I still don't know how to make all the smilies and change text colors. And I'm still trying to find "modify profile" on my page. Help?

LOL frazz The latest posts option will basically just bring up a list of the ten most recent posts to all boards (collectively). I think rissmeek was looking for a way to change the order of the posts within a thread. But yeah , it's still a cool feature some probably havent noticed Ok, as to your questions... To modify your profile -At the very top of the page (under the site banner w/ the pic and "Big Love Compound" etc) there is a grey line (the menu) with the following tabs : "home" "help" "search" etc. Cick the tab that says "profile" and you can edit your profile form that page To use smileys - or change text color - You have to cick the "reply" tab on the thread / subject you woud like to reply to. The "reply" tab can be found in the blue area at the bottom and top of each thread. It will take you to a page with all kinds of options and text box. The smileys are right above the text box (where you enter your post) just click which ever one you'd like to use. All of the options for altering text (bold, underline, glow, color etc. ) are square tabs right above the smileys on that same "reply" page. You can move your cursor over any of the boxes and it will tell you what that tab does. There is even a drop down menu for colors to the right of those tabs. None of these options are available (as clickable tabs) in the "quick reply" box at the bottom of each thread. However, if you know the code for them you can enter them there as well. I'm guessing you have probably just been using the quick reply text box at the bootom of each thread , rather than clicking "reply", huh? Totally fine, thats why it's there, but you will miss some options going that route. Hope that helped. If you need further help shoot me a PM .
