I am so upset about that last scene with Ben, I don't know why I thought that Bill was going to be a better person-obviously he only can think of himself. This is very sad for Ben and Margene, I think Bill is going to pay for his bad behavior. Barb shouldn't stand for this. Did anyone notice that Margene was looking at Ben like she was starving and he was lunch? I never cared about his character, but he is proving to be a stand up kid for sure.

Happy to have found you all! I guess I gotta register... I really love Big Love, my husband is behind on episodes, so I can't say anything to him. This week, going to lunch with a couple of people that watch, one of the guys wife's name is Barb, so I got her a team barb shirt, me- a team Nicki shirt (cause I'm crazy blunt like she is) and another younger girl I work with a team Margene shirt.

When you are young and have to lie about who you are, what you believe in for fear of being "exposed", it creates an unnatural bond with the people who share your secret.
Margene was wrong to kiss Ben but I understand how it happened. Her breakdown on her "QVC" show underscored how deeply this marriage is affecting her. To have a "husband" that can not support you publicly and is spread so thin between his other wives and his lofty ambitions is obviously quite hard for her.
Ben and Margene are quite close in age. I thought there was something between them from the first season. Ben has acquired the role of "man of the house" because his father is never there. Is it really so surprising that he would become attracted to his father's third wife?
Bill is to blame for this situation and he is disgusting for kicking his son out into the street.
Ben is strong and I hope is he able to get out of this warped lifestyle like his sister.
I'm also disgusted with Barb for allowing her love for Bill to subject her children to this truly dysfunctional situation.

I'm also really glad that I found this site...the new HBO "Talk" discussions are too hard to deal with.
I was stunned by last night's episode and needed to talk to someone about it!

Glad you both found us! (and momofthree, i promise registration is fairly painless lol) I think ben is handling the situation more like an adult than the actual adults involved. He has indeed had to grow up, and i'm more than impressed witht he way he stepped up last episode.

So did Margie get married when she was 18 years old? Younger? And how old was Sarah when this happened? 13? 14? If I was a teenaged girl, I would be totally creeped out if my dad married a girl barely 3 or 4 years old than me. Is it common in Utah to get married as a teenager? I know Mormons marry young, but I think a lot of them go to college (probably BYU!) first and get married during or shortly after, but I think that would still mean a lot are 20-22. 18 is SO YOUNG! No wonder Margie acts more like Sarah and Ben!

well, it's pretty safe to say that if Ben is five years younger than margene then sarah is only 4 years younger.
More to the subject though - Ben - I think Bill's refusal to apologize was kind of a last straw for him. I'm afraid that this good kid is going to take some hard paths as a result of his feelings for / about his father at this point. I really just dont want to see history repeat it's self any further than it already has. I dont want to see Ben turn to the life Bill says he lived after being thrown out.

Bill is definitely going to regret his actions this time. He was such a hypocrite. He made a great speech at the rally that won him the nomination. Too bad Ben wasn't there to see it. Ben is head strong like his father is, but I am confident that he will be successful at finding his own way. I wonder what his views are about polygamy NOW.

I think Ben is going to stumble in an attempt to find his own way. I also have a hunch that he may end up getting himself in trouble with his grandmother's border bird smuggling.
