After last night's episode I have to wonder if Caralyn is really (as many of you have already suggested) Wanda and JJ's daughter.
Wouldn't having a child with Nikki be NOT keeping the bloodline pure?

I hope not.
Most of the "pure" children were under the age of 12. Could Nicki's leaving have been what made JJ go bat sh!t crazy?
Cara Lynn and Nicki have a good relationship. Cara Lynn is the first child Nicki gave birth to. Also Nicki loves Wanda. If Cara Lynn turned out to be Wanda's, I don't think it would change anything for Nicki. In fact, she'd probably set fire to a fertility clinic to keep it from coming out.

When JJ was about to implant Nikki he said, "I got a little something from our daughter. The three of us will be together again." Something along those lines anyway.

Cara lynn is Nikki's daughter. That is why JJ used Cara Lynn's eggs; to keep the bloodline pure.

Keeping the bloodline pure would not involve a daughter that was really Nicki's. As far as we know Nicki is not JJ's blood relative.

Actually, with a gene pool as limited as Juniper Creek's, and generations of intermarriage between families, they are probably ALL blood relatives. But Nicki is still a "mongrel" because she isn't a purebred Walker.

The fact that JJ said, "for our daughter" to Nicki, makes me think that Cara Lynn is really Nicki's. If she wasn't, he would've said, "for my daughter", especially since Nicki wasn't in any position to argue with him then.

I believe CaraLynn is really JJ and Nicki's daughter. Perhaps JJ had in mind the connection it gives the family to Roman, the prophet thru Nicki. Yes, JJ's mother called Nicki a mongrel, and that confuses everyone as to why she would say that. She didn't have much else to say in the few times we saw her! But Nicki did say she left her child with JJ when they were unsealed and he went/returned to the other compound with CaraLynn. Not even sure where JJ's from...but Nicki DID know JJ's doctor son from when he was a child...remember she mentioned the tree house she had built for him! I don't think the writers made it clear enough for us to be absolutely sure of what's going on!!! Like we really need this confusion???

I'm wondering if JJ's obsession with the pureblood thing didn't happen until after Nikki left him. Maybe he thought that developing a pureblood race would make him prophet.

didn't part of the "news" story they showed about the kansas compound say something about the pure blood lines, etc being something that were believed to have stopped in the 1950's or something? It gave me the impression it was something JJ had (more or less) recently picked back up ....

The news story said the children who had "markers" for close inbreeding were MOSTLY under the age of 12. Cara Lynn is 14 or 15, but she could have been one of the first. We still haven't had any explanation of her brown eyes. Both Nikki and JJ have blue eyes. Wanda has brown eyes. Blue is the recessive gene, so two blue-eyed people cannot have a brown-eyed baby. This subject was discussed extensively on the old HBO board last season.

Keeping the bloodline pure would not involve a daughter that was really Nicki's. As far as we know Nicki is not JJ's blood relative. Perhaps JJ wanted some of Roman's bloodline as well, since he was the prophet of Juniper Creek.

I believe Mother Walker called Adaleen a mongrel, not Nicki. Adaleen was just Roman's wife, but Nicki is a child of Roman, so maybe as the daughter of the prophet she is better than the average non-Walker mongrel, LOL... Here's an article from 2008 about the LeBaron family. Three of Ross LeBaron's sons have gotten away from their polygamous upbringing, and claim their father is using artificial insemination to impregnate female relatives, including his own daughters. "The concept that he has superior genetics, superior intelligence, if you will, due to his direct lineage of Jesus Christ," David said. www.digitaljournal.com/article/254118

Could JJ and Roman be closely enough related that Nicki would be considered decently close enough to be married to?
Or, could JJ's obsession with Nicki be unrelated to bloodlines, and due to the obsession, he's able to overlook the fact that she's not "pure" by his own standards?
Just some ideas to throw around. It really wasn't ever properly explained, which is why I think this storyline should've waited till next season before being finished, and hopefully that will actually be the case.

After rewatching all seasons on demand, I'm starting to think Caralynn does not belong to Nikki. She left 14 yrs ago and anything could have happened to the child ie: married off, death. JJ just used this as one way to inject himself into Nikki's world again. imo.
