When the reporter came to Bill about Ana's baby, I was surprised that it suddenly didn't dawn on Bill that maybe this whole senate race was a mistake. And then Barb admitting that she sent the paternity results to the stations.... I thought for sure Bill would concede. I'm disappointed that he didn't.
How about the scenes with him and Sissy? You could tell she didn't know what he was talking about. Baby? Oh yes, the baby.

I just want to know how the hell anyone caught that reverse French flag symbolism? I was so entranced with their faces that I wasn't even looking at colors! I just thought it was the usual American political "Red, White & Blue" - nothing French about that - reverse or otherwise. Funny though, that the wives could buy any dress they wanted, and yet came up with the RW&B.

I think they will be forced to move to the compound. Clearly Bill has lost his mind, they have nowhere to turn, at least in my mind. I don't believe for one second he will be allowed to remain in office, he's a criminal. He should never have that seat, voted in or not he's a fraud in the eyes of the people. I was hoping Barb would get up and walk away, instead she ducked her head and fell in line. *snort*

Aside from the fact that in the real world, Bill woulda been found out... Remember the Mother of the Year award? The Fist Lady of Utah knew. And suddenly everyone has amnesia? I LOVE Big Love but the show went off the rails (Bill and Barb's expression) with the election.

Did you also notice that no one in the audience clapped?

I was glad Bill won. It would have been serious television blue balls if after all this he'd pulled out of the race. I knew the wives would stick with him - they love each other. But thats the ingredient that's really been missing from this season - showing why they are all staying in this marriage: the sweet things they do for each other and the solidarity.
What would make me mad as a voter is the fact that he lied. I could give a hoot (obviously I'm not LDS) what religion someone practices if I agree with their politics. I know he couldn't have run openly.
I think next season will have them as tabloid fodder.

I agree. There are a lot of people who tend to place a higher value on a politicians personal life than on their politics, or ateast an equal value, though. So I dont see this going over any better for Bill than lewinsky did for clinton. I think a lot of people are going to feel duped. They bought into this "family" man who turned out to have a different idea of family than their own. Unfortunately I think he is going to be lumped in with all the poly stories the media has been covering (roman grant, child brides, the ueb, the incestous kansas compound, etc.) and people will be closed off to him due to those factors before he even gets started.

Maybe Bill can't be impeached for a misdemeanor; but I'd bet that a little "home cooking" could go a long way.
I think we're going to see Bill being Mr. Nice Guy & struggling to keep his wives together on their terms! He's been so busy this last season with everything else, he has had so little time for any of them. He's just had too many irons in the fire, imo. Of course, that's Bill.
As a family, both he & Barb have been tinkering w/the LDS bishop. I don't think that's gonna work out since he has now let the cat outta the bag. Then, he had the church he was starting, whatever happened to that. Even Joey called him on that. Sarah is moving, Ben is in his corner. Teeny just returned from the LDS camp & doesn't want to give up her popularity. Oh my, so many storylines!!!!!
I hope Bill gets a lot of rest til next season, I think he's going to need it, lol.

I think that instead of writing themselves into a corner, the writers have written themselves right to where they want to be. I said after the first couple episodes that this whole thing is to get Bill back to Juniper and set up as the Prophet, and I still hold firm with this belief. If anything, the finale solidified that for me since Bill's two biggest competitors is either dead or in the hospital recovering from severe burns, or gone completely insane. Juniper Creek is going to be begging for a new Prophet any day now, and Bill is going to be looking for a safe haven after he realizes that Utah isn't ready for a polygamist politician or his family.
So next season we get to see Bill struggling with the fact that perhaps politics isn't what the Heavenly Father was calling him towards, and because Bill doesn't like to admit he's wrong, he'll have to either be convinced by his family that they need to hide, or he'll come up with some excuse to return to JC. On top of that, we still have Margene's drama with the INS, Nicki's infertility, Alby's insanity, the Kansas compound, Barb's new found independence, a missing Joey, and two teenage girls. There's enough stuff here that they wouldn't even have to come up with any new ideas. They can just finish what they've actually started!

I'm with aliensummer! All of this -- and the new season fall-out from it -- had to happen so that the story can come full circle. And full circle is, I am more and more convinced, Bill's return to Juniper Creek as Prophet.
Ragnarockette mentioned the love the wives have for each other, and I agree that, because the opportunity to see the family relationships was constrained by the 9-episode format, we had to take our little hints where we could.
And though we hardly got to see the kids in this dynamic, I loved how when Sarah wanted to leave the wives' meeting at which she was topic number 1, Nicki told her 'Sit down!' in no uncertain terms, and she did!
What I didn't like so much was when Sarah opened the quilt and she hugged only Barb. She had to know that while they all made their squares, it was Nicki who quilted everything together. In my mind I imagine that she does hug them all after, but it would have been nice to see.
And I also loved that when Nicki was quilting, she had changed back into her prairie clothes. A nice shout-out to her memories of quilting on the compound. I'm so grateful for those little moments that I can catch when I see the episode over again. They are so fleeting in the rush of the season.
