I just finished catching up on Dexter! I watched the first season when it was on, but stopped after that. So this past month I got caught up on the three seasons I missed. Exams and essay time is great for helping me catch up on shows. Last year I started on Heroes, but stopped watching as soon as school was over. Right after the finale of Dexter, I started right back up with Heroes.

Thought I'd let any fans of Ken Follett's "Pillars of The Earth" know that it'll be an 8-hour series starting in July. Saw the trailer on Starz tonight.
Some impressive actors in it -- Matthew McFayden, Donald Sutherland, Rufus Sewell and Ian McShane (of Deadwood fame, of course).

Not me, I loved it though i will miss the murdered character. They said that there would be a show chnager ending and they definitely went there!

I loved the ending, but I will really miss that character. She was one of my favourites! I can't wait to see how they deal with it in the next season and if Dexter gets caught up in it.

I'm a big fan of The Tudors. Like Big Love, it deals with religion, politics, and sex and how these realms intersect. The sex scenes can be way over the top, but these scenes also go a long way toward humanizing the characters.
Pillars of the Earth is highly recommended. Speaking of Ian McShane ...I also enjoyed 'Kings'--you can catch that on Hulu. Both of these shows would be perfect for Big Love fans and are safe for children.
30 Rock is terrific for laughs.
Dexter is great fun, but for me only the 1st season is comparable in quality to Big Love (the first 3 seasons anyway).
I'd also recommend The Wire, Sopranos, Battlestar Galactica (as well as Caprica), and Breaking Bad as masterpieces of adult drama, though obviously nothing like Big Love in terms of content.

It just occurred to me, the way Richard puts up with Hyacinth is kind of like the way Bill puts up with Nicki.......sometimes I watch Keeping Up after Big Love.....right when I need a good laugh... You're right, now that I think of it. Good comparison.

The only other show I watch regularly is Sons of Anarchy. I love flawed protagonists.

I usually find out about good shows well after they were popular. I watch Friends and I just discovered Seinfeld last year. I think I was watching it on something like surfthechannel - before they got all censored. It was the first show that had me laughing so hard I cried. OMG I think the funniest episode was the one about the BIG SALAD and the one about the CALZONE. I am chuckling now thinking about it. My favorite episode of Friends (and the one that got me hooked) was the one where no one was ready and Joey wouldn't get out of Chandler's chair. I died laughing when he got up and took the cushions with him. It still cracks me up. I am a die hard Mad Men fanatic too. I can't wait for season 5. I love most of all the Law and Order franchises and I like the Closer, last but not least, I was a great fan of The Tudors.
