Not only did he say it was Roman who forced him to kick Bill out, but that he did it because he couldn't bear to give up Lois and break up the sister wives.
Frank isn't so bad after all???
And I loved Lois's response (as usual). " ... oh well, we probably would have hit the skids anyway."
And Bill says he's not really the guy Barb thinks he's becoming.
Do we believe him?

I don't know about either one of them. lol
On one hand I'm happy Frank isn't such a bad person after all. On the other hand it doesn't sound like he was really their for Joey either. It is nice to know that he didn't kick Bill out for selfish reasons though.
Bill's going to have to do more then tell Barb he isn't a douchebag. lol

It seems that both Frank and Bill are beginning to see that they need to mend things with their families before it is too late. However, things are so screwed up that a few kind words or actions from them aren't even a drop in the bucket. The family is in serious need of repair.

I'm thinking Frank was "repenting" because he thought he was going to meet his Maker. Seems a lot of these guys think the lip service is all thats needed. Bill 'declares' his authority to start a new church, and since he said it it must be so. Frank says sorry (but here's my excuse) and well then all must be forgiven. I love that Lois didn't skip a beat when suggesting to leave Frank behind to save the other men in her life . Not that we shouldn't be forgiving but she just doesn't have it in her anymore. I think Frank was making lame excuses. Bill i was a bit taken aback with. VERY cool headed in a super freaky situation and managed to get out with everyone alive! (So far) Joey's dead meat though. Must've been the job JJ had for him, no?

I wasnt surprised to learn that Roman had been the force behind frank kicking bill out. I was glad he finally told the truth about it - that basically he was a coward and when given an utimatum he caved. He basically chose to sacrifice one member of his family (Bill) to save the rest, but ultimately his family wasn't saved - it was torn apart as a result.
It really made the moment when Bill said " nobody is getting left behind this time" (as they were leaving) a very poignant one.
It didn't really change my estimation of Frank. I have always thought he was cruel , but honest . His life may have been completely shaped by the compound but he also chose to embrace it rather than rebuke it. A lot of his anger at Bill has had to do with his proclaiming to have chosen a different path and at the same time living a life not completely unlike that of those on the compound.
My hope is that Bill is begining to see that as well... how deeply his connection to that life has effected and is shaping his "new" life. I hoped that was what his comment was about.
I dont think Bill is going ot do a complete turn around, but i do think this experienc eis going ot leave him changed in some way.

In this scene we got a glimpse into how damaged Frank is also. Not that I like Frank. But it was interesting to see how he landed up like he did. Nicki told Bill a season or two ago that her father threw him off the compound and not Frank...Bill already knew that. Maybe Lois didn't know this?

Maybe Lois didn't know this? for me it was significant that the truth about it was coming directly from frank and that he took personal responsibility - instead of shifting blame. Not sure if lois knew, but i would guess she atleast suspected it.

I have never liked Frank's character -- fun to watch the crazy stuff he does, but he has always seemed rotten to the core.
His "death's door" apology to Lois really did seem sincere -- like one of the only times Frank has ever really looked at himself and his actions, and realized what a total horse's ass he is. I'm pretty sure the dire circumstances were entirely behind his honest self assessment, and once they aren't about to die he will go back to be just as awful as he ever was.
Bill -- really rallied. He came to rescue his family. He wasn't willing to leave his injured father behind, no matter what horrible things Frank has done and how much he deserved to be left. And when they were caught, Bill truly, sincerely, was willing to lay down his own life for his family -- especially for his son. And Frank saw Bill's true character, and how a real father is supposed to behave. I think he was proud of Bill, but also ashamed of his own past actions.

Frank is still a jack hole. Last season he tossed his son Frankie out because he spoke to a girl. He sent his wife to Nicaragua for helping Lois. Did Roman demand it?
He might have some pride in Bill, he might have some residual passion for Lois, but he is a very small, very twisted person.
But he is occasionally hilarious. "Don't laugh Selma."

True...Frank admitted what he did and what he allowed to happen.
We think he is horrible (and he is) but if you really think about it, having a Prophet tell you to toss out your son...that must do damage also. Even if you don't show it, it has to damage your mind, heart and soul. And that is just one thing. I bet there is a list a mile long about horrible and abusive things that have happened. In real life, Elisa Wall and Carolyn Jessup certainly have given us a few examples.
I think that scene showed how F-ed up everyone is from Juniper Creek.
I guess I wasn't paying attention to Bill in those scenes (I am learning to crochet and was getting frustrated!). I'm looking forward to watching it again and seeing a different side of Bill...the one that you guys saw.

I wonder if Roman is responsible for Frank's habit of peeing in the sink too?

I think Frank was too afraid to stand up to roman and lose it all (as he saw it) so he went along with it. Afterwards he had basically 3 choices - either wallow in misery and guilt , have a change of heart and try to redeem himself (leave JC), or perceive himself as the coward he was and go "all in" with the compound way of life.
He chose the latter - his way of feeling liek he was being honest was continueing to be the cruel compound man he knew his wife would see him as regardless. IOW's instead of getting out he dove in deeper.

What I want to know is... Who is Frank blaming Frankie's banishment on?

Himself - that's kinda what I was trying to say. It's like he had a "If you cant beat em join em" attitude after roman pushing him to out bill. Almost as if he made concious decision to quit trying to beat the system and embrace it... full on.
I'm not tyring to defend him by any means, but I do give Frank credit for one thing - he doesnt try to make himself out to be somethign he's not. He doesnt hide his evil actions in some cloak of rightousness, or pretend he's doing osmething for a greater good when he's doing it for his own twisted satisfaction.

Oh lol I know you aren't trying to defend him, and I agree with you on the whole "If you can't beat em join em" attitude... I'm just being a smart ass lol. To be honest, if Frank wasn't on this show, it wouldn't be nearly as entertaining as it is.
