Nicki dressed just like her concept of a prostitute - which I think is how she has come to see the practice of sealing teenagers to much older men. That she had to return to the scene of her own defilement must have been the height of anger and anguish.
By the way - who else what completely creeped out by the father of Wanda and JJ? The mother was bad enough, but the father was WAY over the top.

Yeah his parents were like something out of a bad zombie horror movie; having read spoilers one would know why they are meant to be like that but sorry this is just OTT. I think that whole premise regarding Nikki dressing like that and throwing Caralynn getting sealed into it and all the rest of the mess was pretty cringeworthy it seemed rushed and hackneyed to me...

Nicki has arrested development -- she told Margie at the meeting with Barb that she never had a childhood or a life. Nicki came to the sealing dressed like a 15 year old from the mid-80's, and she told her mom "This is who I am inside." She dressed like she would have dressed in the mid-80's if she hadn't had the messed up upbringing on the compound, and hadn't been sealed to an adult man when she was still a kid.

Not sure why Nicki would dress like a hooker if she hadn't grown up in JC. I think she feels that way because she's been bought and sold, first to JJ, then to Bill. She tried to tell Bill she feels cheap by being his spy, too. Then, as Nickifan said, she returns to that motel and dresses the part. I'd like to know why her father unsealed her from JJ.

I think Nicki had some kind of emotional breakdown (or maybe even breakthrough) dressing like that at the place where she was sealed. The clothes represented something going on in her head. Not really sure what exactly. The clothes were very 80's and the sealing happened in the 80's.

here's a question..... where did she get the clothes and makeup? like,s he couldn't have had time to go shopping... Margie's closet? LOL A short skirt on Margie would have been super short on Nicki =) I don't think Nicki meant to dress as a hooker -- although, as Nickifan said, that may have been Nicki's concept of a prostitute, and that's how she sees the whole marrying-young-girls-to-old-men concept, like forced child prostitution. I think Nicki's idea was to dress as a wild, unrepressed, sexually attractive young woman -- like something she might have seen in a Bangles or Go-Go's or Madonna video. We've seen that Nicki totally dresses like a prairie prude, and she is even very straight-laced in her sex life with Bill, so this was a real breakthrough moment. And did you catch the song playing on her car stereo? "Where Have All the Flowers Gone". 60's, not 80's, but there is a line about "Where have all the young girls gone? Gone for husbands, every one."

This was Nicki's break through moment.

Yes, I think that the clothes came from Margene's closet or maybe Sarah's. I also think that part of the reason Nicki wore them was in response to Adaleen's remark about Cara Lynn dressing like a prostitute.
It is kind of a crime that legs like Nicki's should be covered in prairie skirts. I don't usually covet other women's body parts, but I want those legs. And I'd like Ana's hair, but that isn't the point.

yes, i definitely thought 80's when i saw nicki pull up at the motel and saw her makeup and side pony tail (i mean, they even made specific effort to note that it was a side pony tail). when she stepped out and i saw how short her skirt was tho, i cringed! i think that's where it was crossing the line between simply 'this is me mamma, i'm the 14 year old girl that i should have been allowed to be if not for being sealed/being at JC' and 'im making a statement about young girls/prostitution'
especially after her in the previous episode saying how she doesn't know who she is, she's all sorts of people, but really doesn't know who she is.

Maybe it ties in (like the previous poster said) about Nicki not knowing who she is and where she fits. She is feeling like many people; Bills wife, a little girl who was sealed to a creep, Roman's daughter, someone who found some love for Ray the DA, a Mormon fundamentalist, someone who loves her brother no matter what her religions says etc. etc. Her outfit was just one of those people.
Her outfit was kinda insane and it is really how Nicki feels inside, like she is loosing her mind and going insane.
Poor Wanda was having some type of psychotic breakdown...she was already there

This is Nikki living the rebellious teenager lifestyle that she was never allowed to live. She's busting out. I thought it was great. And yeah, she does have great legs, lol!

Yeah, seeing Nikki dressed like that was a WTF moment..I agree the whole scene seemed too rushed for me. I would have liked to have seen more of an explanation. JJ's parents were a bit too much, that seemed rushed too. I wanted to see more, especially with poor Wanda.
