Is anybody else watching "Mildred Pierce?" I watched the first two parts last Sunday and it lookslike it is going to be pretty good. Joan Crawford won an Oscar for the role in a movie made in the 40's or 50's. Of course the movie was much shorter than the mini-series they have made this time but they say that this one is closer to the book it was based on. So far, I like it but I have never seen the original.

I am! haha it took over Big Love's time slot... so i really had nothing better to watch lol It's over now. It was okay but not Big Love. If you have a Showtime subscription, The Borgias is really good! Lots of palace intrigue and surely not what you would expect from a story about a Pope and his family. Yes, I said "his family". Apparently, everyone looked the other way and this Pope had 12 children! The story focuses on four of them. At the same time on AMC is a show called The Killing. It stars Mirielle Enos. She played Kathy/Jodean on Big Love! She is a homicide detective in this show. It follows one murder for the whole season instead of squishing everthing into one night like L&O.

I'm pretty interested The third episode is Sunday night but they play last week's episode before the new one so you will only be one week behind. If you need any explanation after that, PM me and I will help catch you up.

I need a DVR too, damnit! haha My mom only wants to pay for one in her room. Doesn't help me much. I really need one of those. I've been super busy with community service lately.

It's really hard to compare the two - The endings are quite different, but, I actually enjoyed the new version very much. The way the HBO Mildred Pierce recreated 1930's Los Angeles was amazing. I think it was done so realistically - I almost lost myself into that time period. Veda, Veda, Veda...what a horrid person she turned out to be - but I think so was Mildred. She created that monster, nurtured it, so when it bit her in the end, sorry to say this, Mildred deserved it. My favorite scene is the one with the conductor. He warns Mildred... paraphrasing - when you pay to go to the zoo, do you take the snake home with you? And when Mildred asks him "Are you saying Veda is a snake?" he replied, "No, she is worse than snake, she is coloratura soprano." What are your thoughts?

I know they repeat but it is sometimes a real puzzle to figure out how to see everything I want. Some weeks it is easy and some weeks it is almost impossible without staying up until 4AM!

I have never seen the original so I cannot compare. I liked this one but was really not surprised at how it ended. I also would not have been surprised to hear that Veda returned to her parents if they regained financial affluence and that they would have let her!
