I can't believe what a jerk Bill is. How could he ask Don to take the bullet for him??? All of this is going to blow up in his face...and now that he did this to Don, imagine what the media will do with it if/when Bill goes public about his polygamy. This whole running for senate is such a stupid, egotistical, power-hungry thing to do.
And he is being completely unfair to Ben. I feel so sorry for that young man -- his young, sexy stepmother teased him and led him on for years, he (stupidly) confessed his love for her in a letter that his bratty holier-than-all-of-you little sister read, then Margie kissed HIM and he tried to take the blame for all of it. And now his dad wants him gone, even though Margie's the one who threw herself at him.

I both agree and disagree with you. Bill is definitely being a complete jerk (although my language was not quite as nice when the episode was playing). Don had told him that he was fighting to at least have visitation and partial custody of his other kids. Coming out as a polygamist will completely throw a huge wrench in that plan, 'cause the courts are going to side with the mother on this one. I respectfully disagree with your view of Margene teasing Ben and throwing herself at him. Margene's character is pretty typical of a child with major self-esteem problems - and the bravado of trying to convince people otherwise. It would have never originally occurred to her that Ben would ever see her in that way, simply because I don't think she sees herself that way. When her behaviors were pointed out to her, she adjusted them and became more responsible and self-aware around Ben. I do believe, however, that the kiss had a huge build-up -- Ben had protected her, repeatedly, when Bill wasn't there, and chose not to be there. Security is a huge issue for someone who's never had it before. The fact that Ben made the choice to set aside pretty important plans of his own in order to be there to support Margene -- I can well imagine that overwhelming desire to show that appreciation in some physical way. Eh, my two cents, worth what's paid, of course. I'm having to remind myself that despite knowing people who fit into all these stereotypes, they are, in the long run, fictional. Angel

Hey Angel, I concur.
I knew when Ben sacrificed himself for her, and protected her, that would only increase Margene's awareness of how Ben cares for her in a way that Bill has never cared for. After all, Margene is only trying to replicate the family that she never had growing up.
I think the writers are doing a bang up job this season showing all the nuances of the family's dysfunctionalism.
Bill is no different than Roman as I've always suspected but now he is showing it very clearly.
Bill asks Nicki to spy for him w/ Cobert when he has chastised her again and again for lying and being sneaky.
Bill is such a freakin hypocrite!
I feel sorry for Don, but Don brought this on himself. Rather than standing up to Bill and telling him that he would not go along w/ this hair brained scheme to become Senator, he basically put himself in a position where Bill has ruind his chances of not only ever seeing his family again but also being able to support himself!
Don has enabled Bill, just as Barb enables Bill, and the rest of the wives. They will not tell him no, but I guess this is the nature of plural marriage.
I must say I was so happy when Jodeen (spelling) let the birds out. Passive Aggressive, but she was fuming and I loved the look on her face, like why the hell am I here w/ these crazy people.
If being outed doesn't ruin Bill's plan for holding office, you better believe Frank will!

I am SHOCKED Don went along with that plan!!!
That was too much to ask. Bill could have played that off in a number of ways...A clerical error or something.
I wonder how Peg is going to feel!

Bill made a big mistake with Don; he used his best friend as a pawn in another one of his selfish schemes. Bill is going to reap what he sows! In fact, he is reaping already (with all of the family issues tumbling all over him)!!!

This has to be the season where Bill finally gets his. What he did to Don was nothing short of inexcusable. BILL wanted to run for office. BILL wanted to created a new face to go along with polygamy. BILL made the decision to put himself out there. Then, when things stop going according to his plan, he decides to have Don take the fall.
Now let's discuss what he has done to Joey. He isn't there for Joey, unless it serves him. With the whole Kathy murder situation, it was Bill who was working with the DA to get the Greens convicted - not out of love for Joey and his pain, but rather, so that he could also get Roman. He left Joey in the dark about the entire situation. But, as soon as it is time for him to run for office, he needs his brother, the former NFL star, to come be a public family member for him. Unacceptable.
Let's discuss what all he has done to Lois. Some days he loves her; other days, he hates her. But, rest assured that when he needs her to be a public mother figure for him so he looks like a great family man, he will butter her up and ask her to be there.
And then we have Ben. I'm not sure if what Bill did to Don or Ben was the worst. Ben is his son. He was living in a monogamous family unit when Bill decided to start living the polygamous lifestyle. How much confusion this caused for Ben. We saw a great example of that when he wanted to marry Brynn. He told his mother that Brynn was the one for right now, but if that changed, he could always just marry someone else. He grew up with a very warped idea of what love is. Now that he is a man, he is trying to figure it out for himself. There is a young, beautiful girl who has always paid him attention. He falls for her. First sign of this, Bill kicks him out - not unlike how things are run on the compound.
Of course, we also have Sara. Does he ever really acknowledge Sara unless it will benefit him? He certainly didn't have her appearing on stage with the rest of his family at the rally. She has even tried telling him that he ignores her and he brushes her off.
Don't get me started on how he treats his wives. Margene clearly feels abandoned - hence her little breakdown on air. We all see how he treats Nikki. And Barb doesn't get much better.
Someone had better give him his. I'm rooting for it to be Joey or Don.

I officially hate Bill now. To ask Don to do that? He is just so determined to do what he thinks is right without caring about others. How is that righteous? Is he so naive that he doesn't know reporters will be asking his neighbors questions? They know. I"m sorry, but I hope this blows up in his face-but like someone said, it is already with the family sort of unraveling. Oh man.

I was disgusted that Bill asked Don, but shocked that Don agreed! Remember, Don could have said no and forced Bill to admit to being a polygamist. I think this whole thing goes back to Bill and Don's conversation earlier where Don admits to being envious of Bill. Don has now taken action to defend his life style by supporting someone who promises to make it acceptable in mainstream society. Don said he always wished he could do the things that Bill does, and I think Don saw this situation as his chance to do it (and I'm sure Bill helped him see it that way).
I just think it sucks that Don had to take the fall for Bill's Senate plans that will eventually fail anyway.

What he did to Don was wrong on sooo many levels. But to Bill, its all about Bill, what Bill wants. The next thing I think he is gonna do, is have an affair with Sissy Spacik. (sp). You can see the tension between them, and he had no problem last season sleeping with Anna, plus nobody knows, so its all about Bill. Wow you dont even love to hate him anymore.

I have to chuckle at myself now for being so irate with Bill last night! I was slapping him up one side of his head and down the other. I'm sure next week's episode will open with his head bandaged and him wondering what hit him. I had to appease myself with the scenes from last week where Marilyn kept putting him down with one zinger after another!!! Hope to see more of that in the coming weeks! Bill's become more of an ogre than Roman, Frank and JJ put together! L - O - S - E - R !!!! <sigh> I am so loving the show this season!

Bill the Creep just made a "lost boy" out of his own son. Yet another case of the abused becoming the abuser.
My heart broke for Don. I wish it were in his nature to punch Bill in the nose and call him a hypocrite to his face.

Wow what an episode! SOOOOOOO much happened. It is moving way to fast. I feel like they are trying to wrap up things to fast now. Not sure what is up with it, but I don't like it.
Bill is so selfish. He is going to ruin his family that he says he loves so much. The poster above is right. He only cares about his brother and mother when it suits his needs.
I cannot believe what he did to Don. Don is already having trouble with getting to see his kids and now they lose their healthcare and their dad's income (although I am sure Bill will make this up somehow - I hope). Just outing Don is not going to stop the other guy from digging deeper. If it does, then this show is not going to be honest with itself. We all know how the media is today. That guys knows Bill is hiding something. Why on earth does Bill think this will work? As soon as the media found out he was once at Juniper Creek (which is common knowledge because he stated it in his little speech) and that most of his family is still there, there was going to be some digging. Such arrogance!
Bill's relationship with son is going to turn out to be what his relationship is with this father. Bill needs to stop getting his little pride hurt and TALK to his family - don't talk down to them. I hate the way he tells them "we will talk about this later". Margene's scene where Bill was confronting them both was perfect. She was so exhausted by the whole thing. She also felt horrible. Bill should stop trying to spread himself so thin and pay some attention to his each of his wives. Barb is going to have a major breakdown soon if things don't change.
Asking Nikki to spy for Bill at the other campaign is horrible! He gets on to her all the time for lying and sneaking. I can't believe she would do it. I wonder if Barb knows about this? If she does (and I missed it or we don't know yet) then she is horrible too since this sort of thing is not her style!
JJ - I can't wait to find out what he has over his sister. When she told Joey that her life began with him and their son....hmmmmmm.... Something is going to come out soon. JJ is a snake and I hate him having anything over Joey. I feel really sorry for Joey.
I can't wait for next week for certain. I wish things would slow up a little so we can see some development with stories instead of them being rushed.

Did anybody notice the parallel between the Bill/Don story and the current news stories about John Edwards? Given that it was filmed long before the story broke, I suspect the writers got the idea from the rumors about Edwards having Andrew Young take the fall for him.

Interesting point marionj2. I didn't think of that. Bill is so egotistical and self-serving! He is being very hypocritical, as others have pointed out. He uses people like pawns, just like Roman and Alby, and pretends to be so moral! He has really bitten off more than he can chew with his Senate run, and I can't wait to see how that pans out! How awful of Bill to ask Don to take the heat...soon he'll be on sleeping meds as well as Viagra, LOL. How else will he live with what he's doing to others?

I'm with you Kiasmama - I officially hate Bill now. I was holding onto a thread of compassion and hope where he was concerned but between his treatment of Don & Ben (on top of all else leading to this point) that thread snapped this episode.
aliensummer - great post! I completely agree with your assessment of why Don agreed & I'm also sad that this poor guy is going to end up having done it all for nothing.
In general I am so truly disgusted with Bill at this point (I mean to think once up on a time I was rooting for him !!! ugh...) I really just want to see him get his. He's making his bed, and I'll be happy to see him lay in it.
