What do you think about Bill's anouncement that he intends to run for senate? do you think he has lost his mind? That he'll have a shot in hell of winning? and if so, what do you think the outcome will be?

I think Bill is exactly what Barb's mother thinks of him...A DABBLER.
He has HomePlus, the casino, polygamy and now wants his hands in the senate? He is self righteous to the highest degree. He truly isn't a far cry from Roman after all...At least Roman was comical!
I can't wait to see this senate thing blow up right in his face...And it will!

Agreed: he's a self righteous dabbler.
I think the senate thing will make for good tv, potentially, but I also think Bill has went above and beyond his previous sense of self rightousness with this. i think it's about a lot more than protecting his way of life. I think it's about his trying to change the world... the key part being that HE is th eone to do it.

Bill is ridiculous...The theme I am catching on to with this season is that the writers are trying to show us that Bill's so called "revelations" or "testimonies" from God are nothing more than his own selfish wants, using the bible and God as a window dressing. He is no different than those christians who are really pretend christians, who use the bible and God to excuse all of their un-christianlike behavior.
Even Margene notices this...Saying that "heavenly father's messages can get a little cloudy" and then Nikki making it more obvious saying "Bill has a calling but she thinks he's got the wires crossed".
Both Margie and Nikki are realizing this. Nikki and Margie's talk also was very interesting...Margie had no reason to ask Nikki what she did about her being in love with Bill...The conversation wasn't even going that direction.
I suspect Margie is waking up and because she's feeling that way, she's asking Nikki too.
Bill wants Margie to put all her money towards the common pot and she isn't willing to do that. Just like Anna.
I wouldn't be surprised if Barb is the only one left by the end of the season...If her at all.

It seems the game plan is to keep the whole plural amrriage thing secret only long enough to get elected and then come out with it, right?
couple questions on that front -
1) Wouldnt "coming out" after election just get him removed from senate? I mean even if there's not some law that would enable him to be ...I dont know? impeached? lol Wouldnt you think it would fall into the same kind of media drama that causes so many politicians to resign after their affairs, etc become public?
2) Do you think it's possible that they will be able to keep it secret during the election? I mean wont the competition start doing some dirt digging if Bill starts to look like real competition?
3) Even if Bill did manage to get elcted and then did come out with the whole poly thing and managed to keep his job as senator.... what would be the point? I mean what would he realy be abe to do on his own, and who would follow or sign off on any bill's he tried to pass regarding poly / not ?
It just doesn tmake sense to me.

I think Ted said it best....
"I'll play along with fantasy land..."
LMFAO!
I realize this is just television but this senate thing is way too far fetched for an HBO series. Honestly, I'd expect this kind of thing from The Bold And The Beautiful LMFAO!
There really isn't much difference, tons of wife and husband swapping, marital incest, storylines that test even the most gullible viewer...
I am seriously hoping after tonight's episode that Bill decides he is NOT running for senate. If too many more episodes are devoted to this mess I truly feel the season will have been wasted and ruined.

I mean i know it's just TV too, so i dont mean to be all nit picky about the reality factor of it, but I agree this is just too far fetched.
Granted a man having 3 wives, a compound with a "prophet" , etc. etc. may seem a little far fetched from most people's reality as well... but they're still a reality.
This whole senate thing is kind of jumping ship for me from the realm of real possibility... but maybe thats the point the show is going to make with it? Maybe it's an attempt to show how far removed BIll is from reality.
i dunno?!? again, i just cant make sense of it....

none of your remarks makes any sense but its funny to read. first of all you have not read what God has o say on the matter obviously and until you do I suggest you keep it relative. bashing only shows your ignorance. 2 Samuel 12:8I gave you your master's house and his wives and the kingdoms of Israel and Judah. And if that had not been enough, I would have given you much, much more.
i think Bill will win the senate seat and get new laws pass to legalize the choice to marry whom a man pleases.
if we can have gay unions or mso called marriages in this country then the same choice should be given to ALL people to live in union as they please. now thats reality.
i applaud the writers for showing how self righteous Bill overcomes the many obstacles a man encounters when he has a vision for his family and the will and strength to go for it.

I agree that if gays can get married, men should be allowed to marry multiple wives as long as everyone is of age, aware of the other wives and consenting.
The reason it is unrealistic is because this is UTAH! This would never happen in Utah lol!

Ok so I have to play the devil's advocate here. I totally get the argument about gay couples having the right to marry, but polygamy? really? If Men should be allowed to marry as many wives as they want, than why not the other way around as well? Let women marry as many men as they want too!
Of course that would never happen...

I'm not sure that you're referring to my comments but it seems you are. Assuming that, could you please tell me what it is I wrote that you interpretted as "bashing" ? I dont have any issues religous / otherwise with plural marriage. To each his own. As long as all the parties are of age and willing participants, more power to em. Likewise, I wouldnt have a problem with plural marriage being legalilzed. My problem comes in with questioning how realistic bill's "game plan" (so to speak) is. The problems / holes i see in this plan (noted above in a previous post Q's 1-3) make it seem VERY unrealistic to me. I see if differently... so we'll have to agree to disagree I suppose. I dont think he's being motivated to do this "for his family" as much as he is for himself & his own desire for power. He's basically lost touch completely with his family at this point. since your post seems to be directed at me and MY "ignorance" I'll not make it an issue... but int he future please refrain from insulting or attacking other users. Opinions will vary, and attacking a subject is fine, but dont make it personal. (that's my only rule for the boards)

I agree it would never happen...But in my book, as long as everyone was okay with it, why not? Now I don't think a man should be allowed to go around marrying women, and the woman have no clue about each other. I'm just saying in circumstances where people are into polygamy or polyandry or whatever...If they are all of age, they all want to do it...Why not? As long as no children are being harmed or anything like that is going on, that is okay in my opinion. But I do think you are correct, I can't see it ever happening for real.

JJ77, someone always has to come along and ruin a good conversation by Trolling (i.e. judah)!! I think it is an easy trap to fall in, when you have strong beliefs about something to not make it personal. I wouldn't really call it trolling though. I know the admin doesn't want to give the impression this is a biased board because I know for a fact it isn't.

I dont have any control over other peoples beleifs or biases. I wouldnt want to. Personaly, i have pretty basic "live and let live" attitude in general.
I just didnt understand how what I posted previously could be interpretted as bashing & though it wasnt to any extreme I felt Judah's post was toeing the line of taking it to a personal level. So I wanted to make it clear I'm not ok with that, and that it's the one thing I think shouldnt be tolerated on any forum. Basically just wanted to be clear on that before it was aimed at another user is all.
It is an easy trap to fall in BLR. But if you're not open to discussion , or open to others having varying opinions without taking it personally... maybe a community with varying beleifs and opinions isnt the place you should be.
I dont mean that towards any one person, just in general.
to me, variety is the spice of lilfe... it's what makes things interesting.
